Ethnic trad chapels?
« on: February 25, 2024, 02:23:33 PM »
Does anyone here know if there are many chapels that have TLM but are mainly just one ethnicity that speaks a foreign language without really intending to be? (Primarily Spanish, Polish, Hungarian, etc.) I don't mean in a country like Mexico or Spain, I mean a diaspora that is mainly in a chapel. I thought of this but if I had to guess the only trad chapels like that might be on the west coast.

I know Bishop Trinh had some de-facto ethnic chapels of Vietnamese who relocated from California here in Texas. Don't know the status of those chapels, because information on these chapels is kept to parishioners only, on a need-to-know basis.

Bp. Trinh follows the "keep a low profile, avoid the evil Communists" philosophy of priests like Blessed Miguel Pro, Bp. Zendejas, and Bp. Slupski (RIP).

What I'm trying to say is, I and the friendly Trads on CathInfo don't know anything about those chapels -- but the same goes for the government goons. They don't know anything either. It's a package deal, but Bp. Trinh (and others like him) are OK with that arrangement.

I knew Bp. Trinh when he was Fr. Trinh, he was known for his 45 minute-1hour sermons, that said he was a very dedicated Priest as I recall but faded from view at the Florida SSPX Chapel and then I heard, years later, he was a Bishop

I'm not sure there are enough traditionalists, for anyone to have the luxury of having a chapel that is comprised overwhelmingly of their own nationality.

The closest thing that comes to mind is St Joseph's Chapel in Las Vegas (Fr Courtney Krier), which my mother and I attended one time while we were on vacation (sketchy neighborhood, my father wasn't comfortable leaving the car unattended for over an hour, we were obviously tourists with a lot of luggage in the car, so he stayed with it).  It had a very large Hispanic presence.

There was a primarily Polish TLM on Long Island, NY.  I think it was cancelled by the new liberal bishop in maybe 2017 or 2018.
