  • The Mass for this Feast Day, which was not in the Universal Calendar of the Roman Church but observed in some Religious Orders, Institutes, Dioceses, &c., is to be found in the appendix Missæ propriæ quæ in aliquibus locis celebrari possunt of the Missale Romanum. From The Roman Missal in Latin and English, Arranged for the Use of the Laity, to Which Is Added a Collection of Usual Public Prayers (New York, Cincinnati, Chicago: Benziger Brothers, 1912), here is the text and translation of the Mass for the Feast of the Espousals of Our Lady.

  • The Carmelites observed the Feast of the Betrothal of Our Lady to Saint Joseph, and the Mass found in the Missal proper to the Carmelite Rite differs in the Introit and Collect from the Mass found in the Missale Romanum. Here is the text and translation of this Mass, taken from The Missal According to the Carmelite Rite in Latin and English for Every Day in the Year (Rome: Vatican Polyglot Press, 1953).

  • From The Saint Andrew Daily Missal with Vespers for Sundays and Feasts by Dom Gaspar Lefebvre, O.S.B., of the Abbey of St- André (Bruges, Belgium: Liturgical Apostolate of the Abbey of St-André, 1956), here is the Preface for the Masses of the Feast Days of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

  • From The Litany of Loreto by Rev. Fr. Richard Klaver (St. Louis, MO: B. Herder Book Co., 1954), here are some beautiful and edifying reflections upon the title Mater castissima wherewith Holy Mother Church extols the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Litanies of Loreto, which also illustrate her connubial chastity as the Immaculate Spouse of St. Joseph: a spotless purity that made their holy Matrimony and sacred household the greatest in all history and not to be ever surpassed.

  • From St. Bernard's Sermons for the Seasons & Principal Festivals of the Year: Translated from the Original Latin by a Priest of Mount Melleray, (Vol. I.; Westminster, MD: The Carroll Press, 1950), here is one of the most beautiful sermons of the great Mellifluous Doctor touching upon the glories of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which also remarks upon her most chaste Espousals to St. Joseph.

  • Thank you, once again, Hobbledehoy.  There is a wealth of meditation here. I wish the priests of the SSPX would offer the Mass of this beautiful feast.  Can anyone even imagine the graces that would be given for doing such a thing?
But one thing is necessary. Mary hath chosen the best part, which shall not be taken away from her.
