The Pine Trees Know When It Is Easter
The Pine Trees know when it is Easter .
The pine trees start their new growth weeks before Easter .
If you look at the tops of the trees two weeks before Easter, you will see yellow shoots.
As the days get closer to Easter Sunday, the tallest shoot will branch of and form a cross.
By the time Easter comes around, you will see that most of the pine trees will have yellow crosses on all of the tallest shoots.

I've got a copse of pine trees on the lot in back of my house, over the property line.  I'll have to take a look.

This only happens with some pine species for example the Lobiolly and Ponderosa Pine.  In my area I don't see it on pine trees whose branches drupe downward from the trunk, but I do see it on trees whose branches and needles point upward.
