Title: Due date tomorrow
Post by: parentsfortruth on August 05, 2011, 01:16:10 PM
Well, my due date is tomorrow, and 3/5 of my children were born on their due date or a day before. One was born 20 days before. My eldest was born 10 days after. (First one was also 10 days after, the one I gave up.)

So... kinda scared in a way (not overly, but still, the smallest hint of apprehension is there) praying things are going to go all right.

My last one had the cord wrapped around his neck, but was totally fine. He was also posterior (facing the wrong way) which made things more painful than normal.

So, please pray for little Ruth Agnes, that she comes into the world uneventfully, and with a marvelous healthy first cry, and many more after.

I will pray for a safe delivery for you!  Today is the Feast of OL of the Snows, so put the name Mary in her name somewhere.
50th anniversery of my baptism into the Church!

Lol, PfT, two days before you're due to give birth you're here railing against FishEaters feminists?  I always thought more preparations were involved...  Like a boxer before the big fight, perhaps just sitting in a dark room with a spirit of recollection, steeling your nerves.  Shows you how much experience I have with preggo women.

Rofl.

I'll tell you what. I have been going to bed earlier, and taking a nap here and there, and trying to escape this heat. Believe me, I'm rested enough.

Most of my work gets done in the morning, and some after my nap in the afternoon. I stayed up a little later last night but I got enough sleep. I'm ready to go to the hospital anytime, at least when she signals that she's ready to come out. I am well-rested.

The only way I can "steel my nerves" is to just breathe and focus on other things rather than the pain of it all. I can usually handle it pretty well, except when I'm not allowed to move. Lamaze is a very good thing and I'm thankful that somehow, I always remember exactly what to do.

Last time, my son had the cord wrapped around his neck :(. This caused me to have to be on the monitor so the nurses and the doctor could monitor his heart rate. Whenever I would have a contraction, his pulse would plummet, practically down to nothing. It was so terribly frightening. He was also posterior, which means he was facing the wrong way, and the doctor wasn't going to risk turning him. So, dealing with the pain was very hard for me last time, because I couldn't go and let water run over my back (posterior babies cause tremendous "back labor." Horrible pain in the lower back that is almost unbearable, especially when you're stuck in bed, and you can't go in the shower or walk around.)

Being sweaty and uncomfortable doesn't help. I would have gone and hung out at my parents' house today, (temperature being 66 over there in the house, and approaching 90 when the sun blazes in at MY house) but that would have added an extra 15 minutes of travel time to the hospital, and my labors are relatively short, since I'm "old hat" at it.

Yep! I knew this! It's also my grandmother's birthday tomorrow. She'd have been 109 if she were still here. Her name was Ruth.

You poor thing. Summer is not a fun time to be pregnant. I remember with my August baby basically sitting in front of a fan all day toward the end. Have you considered hanging out at a library or mall near the hospital during the hottest part of the day?

As an aside, your parents keep their house at 66!?! Burr!!

My dad has breathing problems, which cause him to have to have the house cold all year long. I see my mother wearing a sweater even in the summer more often than not.

I'd thought about going to the library to hang out over there, but I'd have to bring all the children with me, and they'd make a mess of the place.  :laugh1:

Hopefully something'll happen tonight, or tomorrow, AFTER MASS of course, but you know how predictable these things are: Not at all.

In the Rituale Romanum (Tit. VIII, cap. v.) there is a blessing for expectant mothers. Attached is the text and translation from Rev. Fr. Philip T. Weller's book The Roman Ritual, In Latin and English with Rubrics and Plainchant Notation, Volume III - Blessings (Milwaukee, WI: The Bruce Publishing Company, 1952).

Be assured once again of my prayers for you at Mass tomorrow

[Ed. Sorry for the scans being so large. I tried to do something about it, but I could not.]

So... I just got some reflexology done, and from what I've heard, this baby should be on the way within 24 hours.

The only thing I'm worried about is a "short cord" which might be why she hasn't moved down yet (I really pray not, but it could be.)

I wanna see the look on the doctor's face when I go into labor in the next several hours, because when I told him I was going to get some reflexology done, he looked at me with a, :stare: , "Yeah, right," face.

Either way, she'll be out in the next couple of days, if not tonight or tomorrow morning. :)

So I'm sitting here... it's almost 4am, and I'm pretty sure something is starting to happen now! Keep me in your prayers, please, and hopefully by the late morning/early afternoon, I will have some tidings for you.

I'll have my mom post here with updates when she can.
