  • Hi y'all,

You may remember me from a thread a few weeks back where my cat knocked over water onto my Angelus Press missal.

    Well...

I was wondering if anyone knows where I could acquire a good quality Douay-Rheims Bible for less than the usual $40+ spent on it. I have an old one but its so antique that its hard to read and falling apart.

Any help would be appreciated, or even if you have extras I would be willing to discuss.

    Pax Christi vobiscuм!

    Landon

  • Well, if you do a little search online... you can find the original Douay-Rheims Bible, which although is hard to read, is a true treasure trove of Catholic goodness.

Thanks for the link. I will look at it. I have a hard copy of the original Douay-Rheims New Testament, but not the Old Testament.

This Bible has an imprimatur by Samual Cardinal Stritch Archbishop of Chicago, 1950. and published with his approbation.

Three years indulgence for 15 minute reading.

To the faithful who read some verses of the Gospels, kiss it and recite one of these prayers devoutly

'May our sins be blotted out by virtue of the words of the Gospel.'

'May the reading of the Gospel be our salvation and protection.'

'May Christ teach us the words of the Gospel.'

    500 days.

A plenary indulgence is granted under usual conditions if one does above for a month.

A plenary indulgence is granted at the hour of death under the usual circuмstances, to those who have often performed this pious exercise.

  • Yeah, my Dad has a similar edition of the Bible, called the "Holy Trinity edition".
