If you could pray for the repose of the soul of my grandfather, Robbie Sisk, who died today after a long fight with cancer I would greatly appreciate it.
A question- my grandfather was a Protestant but can I ask a priest to say Masses for him?

tough question...You would have to ask the priest. I would guess that he can't offer a Requiem Mass for your grandfather though.

My own grandpa died after suffering so much from cancer. As he died an unbeliever, I have no hope of his being saved.
But when I consider that it was all his own fault, I can accept that his damnation is just.

It's impossible to know if an angel appeared to him and led him to the truth before death. At any rate, his suffering might well have led him to repentance:

And if he lived a life of natural virtue, he will surely be in better stead than most Catholics who die without grace.

Something else to remember: God's justice is perfect.

At the Last Judgement all sins will be revealed and we will have perfect understanding and peace regarding the judgements He makes.

The last thing your grandfather would want, whatever his eternal destiny might be, is for anyone to lose their salvation out of concern for him.

Remember the rich man wishing to warn his relatives about his fate.

I think that it was Saint Alphonsus that wrote that this was not out charity for his relatives, but because their presence in Hell would have increased his own torments...
