Do You Huonder If This Ever Happened Before?

Can anyone provide evidence that, before Vatican II, a Catholic bishop used Holy Oil for the Sacrament of Order consecrated by another bishop?

I could see that as a possibility, in the following scenarios:

1) Bishop conferring Holy Orders outside of his diocese.
2) Auxiliary Bishop conferring Holy Orders.

I see that as no issue ... assuming that the oils are legit of course, but that's a separate matter.

We have the example of Bishop Gracida, who was consecrated an auxiliary bishop within his own diocese, but it was actually a bishop from another diocese who came to serve as the main consecrator.  He may or (most likely) may not have brought his own holy oils with him (vs. using the ones available in the diocese he travelled to).

I recall there being concern among traditional priests after 911, when the new airline travel rules went into effect, prohibiting certain liquids/containers, as there was a fear of seizure and desecration/sacrilege should the oils be seized.

Because of that, I can easily imagine bishops/priests traveling without oils, and using those already available at their destination.

But now with Huonder oils proliferating, I wonder whether some will weigh the risk of sacrilege vs the doubtful Huonder oils, and resume traveling with oils.

Tough position to be in.

Dear Sean,
What do you know about the "Huonder oils"?  Exactly what has happened to them, who is using them, where are they being used, and for which Sacraments?  (Do they have radioactive isotopes included for tracking purposes?)

Its a bit of a mystery, because as you intimate, there's no way of really knowing for sure where all those oils went.

I know that in the immediate aftermath, some German District priests arranged to obtain oils variously from both Econe and from Bishop Faure.

That leads me to believe that those oils were probably destined for German speaking locales, but of course those priests travel, and still other priests visit the German District, so no way of knowing precisely where all those oils ended up.

PS: Hopefully, it is just a temporary problem, because holy oils do go rancid in a couple years, and they must either be consumed before then, or reverently disposed of.  So presuming there is no Huonder repeat, the problem will correct itself in a couple years, as those oils are taken out of circulation.
