  • I was talking to a guy who returned to Catholicism from Orthodoxy. He was talking to me about origins of hesychasm and he sent me a pdf on Symeon the New Theologian. He insulted him due to some questionable lyrics in his hymns.

  • I don't know for sure the answer to your question, but please don't refer to Eastern Rite Catholics as "uniates". Its an archaic term that was developed by the EO to be derogatory toward Eastern Rite Catholics who return to Rome.

    It's actually derived from Russian (uniyat), and is neutral in and of itself, but agreed, it has a negative connotation in actual practice.
