Mrs. Manifold is a well known Irish author. She is close to 100 years old.
Hopefully there is an old priest on hand to administer last rites.

Her books are still available.

Two of her books are still available from Canisius Books

Strange that there isn't more of a traditionalist movement in Ireland. From what I hear there are a few SSPX chapels, no sedevacantists but a decent sized diocean Latin mass group. Are there many old preiest like this one who say the old mass?

The priest in the video is pro-SSPX. Some attending the Mass in her home didn't like the SSPX and after the Mass discontinued in her home most people went to the Indult. Some went back to Novus Ordo. I started to attend the SSPX. Deirdre herself went to the Institute Christ the King.

I was with her on what was perhaps her last ever visit to Corpus Christi chapel in Athlone. We had dinner with her son Padraic later that day. He died in 2010.

Not wishing to boast but I am one of the few, who stuck with the SSPX. Fr Loschi, who visited Ireland recently used to say Mass in her house. Do you know what happened? He was willing to give of his time for a youth meeting but guess where the youth went? To Opus Dei. Father disliked the lack of loyalty. I don't blame him

I did my best to keep people going to the SSPX but most people who attended the Mass in her home now attend the Institute Christ the King. Regardless of any criticism I made of the SSPX, I would never attend that Mass.

That particular priest replaced the late Fr Alan Wilders, who was anti SSPX.

indeed, we are a fragmented, secretive community, none of us know all that goes on, but fr loschi was a wondreful pastor, this i do know.

There are a few here and there and also some young priests. Fr Owen Gorman comes to mind. He features on EWTN and a big fan of Medjugorje. A Youth 2000 type but says the 'extraordinary form'  once per month. Somebody needs to tradify him.

Fr Bufe used to say Mass at her home also but then went to the chapel in a hospital. Fr Cunningham, the priest in the video was also coming to Galway so I believe Fr Bufe felt the area was covered.

At one point Mrs Hannah Morgan hosted the Mass in her home, a guest house. Most of her family got involved with a cult, the Magnificat Meal Movement. They tried to infiltrate the SSPX. Most of the family went to Australia to follow Debbie.

My 1st encounter with the SSPX was Mass offered by Fr. Dubroeuq in the home of Hannah Morgan. Also an Italian priest visited.

Fr. Thomas Cunningham, C.S.Sp. who features in the docuмentary posted on the thread offered the Requiem Mass. Fr David Sherry SSPX assisted him. Other clergy including Fr Paul Kramer were present.

We must remember that Deirdre died on the feast of the Annunciation. It was also the anniversary of the death of Archbishop Lefebvre, and today a Holy Ghost priest, a student of Fr Denis Fahey celebrated the Mass.

Sadly, the parish priest was present and many received Holy Communion in the hand despite Fr Sherry gently reminding those present to receive whilst kneeling. The parish priest, who Deirdre was fond of is one of those "I support women priests" type. It was his parish so he decided to distribute Holy Communion Novus Ordo style.

You knew who the Trads in the church were as they formed a line to receive Holy Communion from Fathers Cunningham and Sherry.

Were the Sacred Hosts consecrated during the Mass or was the Novus Ordo tabernacle ciberium used for communion?

It is also very upsetting to learn that sacrilegious communion in the hand took place during this mass. Why was Fr Sherry at the altar anyway? I would understand his presence among the faithful out of respect for Deirdre - but not at the altar in a Novus Ordo church, giving communion while next to him at the same time communion is distributed in the hand. This must be the first time in SSPX history. This disturbs me greatly.

I am starting to agree with stgobnait and John that we do need Resistance priests in Ireland.

It would be wrong to portray Fr Sherry or Fr Cunningham in a bad way. I thought all was ok until the Novus Ordo priests arrived in to the sanctuary as Mass began. They remained there for the Mass. Fr Sherry and a boy from Athlone served.

The parish priest, a liberal took it upon himself to assist and distributed communion in a casual way. Fr Sherry seemed to note this and announced how to receive at a Traditional Mass.

Sadly many people received on the hand from the Novus Ordo priests. Traditionalists went to the Traditional priests.

Fr Jennings is the parish priest, Fathers Sherry and Cunningham were visitors. The Bishop of Galway appointed Fr Jennings.

I never like to see the Traditional Mass offered where the Novus Ordo is celebrated. I assume/ presume the Sacred Hosts were consecrated during the Mass.

I mentioned Fr Kramer. For clarification, he remained in the pews and was not in the sanctuary.

Fr Kramer is old school and can be fully trusted. Shame that his poor health prevents him from performing a regular ministry. He knew his place and acted as a Traditional priest should act in those circuмstances.

It was rather sad to see so many receive on the hand. Many present were not familiar with the Traditional Mass. Traditional Catholics including the priests did their best to show example.

When I saw Fr Jennings start to distribute communion, I was tempted to shout out sit down, you liberal rat but it wasn't the time or place. Fr Kramer was seated much nearer than I but was unsettled by it too.

Deirdre had regard for Fr Jennings and he blessed the coffin at the end.

You had the true religion and New Church together.

Fr Sherry and Fr Cunningham seemed uneasy

Whilst I disagree with Fr Cunningham in relation to Divine Mercy devotions for example, could he and Fr Sherry have told the Parish priest to get lost? Get out of the sanctuary in the church where he is parish priest?

Very good question.

The prudence of Fr Paul Kramer remaining in the nave was indeed exemplary.

I still would like to know where the Sacred Hosts of communion came from (consecrated during the Mass or from the Novus Ordo) and, if the ciberium was consecrated in the Traditional Mass, whether the remaining Hosts where placed in the Novus Ordo tabernacle.

A situation unexpected at a funeral--the good fathers probably only did the best they could for the greater good.  Fights at funerals are never any good are they?

God bless the prudence of Fr. Kramer, and the soul of Deirdre Manifold.

Thanks for the reminder, John Grace.

4 years went by fast. A great lady. Good thread to read.

Feast of the Annunciation. Today in his sermon Fr. said that March 25th was a Holy Day of Obligation perhaps from Apostolic times, but was moved to Dec. 18th because of the annual conflict with Lent and Holy Week. Then in the 7th century it was restored to March with the proviso that if it runs into Holy Week, it gets postponed till after Easter. Interesting.
