Death of Brother Brian Forrester

A regular at the Traditional Latin Mass that was held in the home of the late Deirdre Manifold. After Mass it was usual to drink tea, sing songs/hymns and recite poetry. Brother Brian would recite and sing well. Pray for the repose of his soul. An end of an era as he was one of the few Christian brothers left. Some in his order betrayed the ideas of the founder and caused great hurt and harm in Ireland.

I attended the funeral though not the burial. A good turn out from the Christian Brothers. Most were in their late sixties and in their seventies. They were all fresh and quite able bodied. The suit and tie seems to be their attire these days. There are a handful of Christian brothers teaching in Irish schools. They haven't had a recruit in years. Such a decline.In the 1960s there were over 1,000 Christian brothers in the schools here. We shall have to tradify them.
