  • Easter is almost over and I still have not taken Communion or gone to confession. My worry is me being outside the Church for my position. As a result I feel worried about taking Communion being a sacrilege on my part. I still feel worried and am not sure what to do. I remember St. Paul saying if you take Communion sacrilegiously you are guilty of the Body and Blood of the Lord.

  • You do not explain why you do not receive Holy Communion(?)
"In His wisdom," says St. Gregory, "almighty God preferred rather to bring good out of evil than never allow evil to occur."

  • I believe the timing of when you must confess and commune is between Ash Wednesday and Trinity Sunday.

Haven’t you asked the priest about your worries in Confession? If not, you must.

Meanwhile if your intention is to treat the Sacrament with reverence, you are not guilty of sacrilege. You need the grace of the sacraments.
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

I currently go to byzantine rite because that's what my parents are willing to take me to due to distance. My worry is being in schism for doubting the legitimacy of Francis even if I only assist at masses where he is prayed for as Pope. It would be harder to explain the crisis to a priest who was just ordained in an Eparchy.

I think most trads, whether they will admit it publicly or not, have some doubt about Francis. None of us, no matter how convinced we are of our view, have the power to remove Francis or bind other people to our opinion. Don't let Bergoglio or anyone else deprive you of the Sacramental Graces that God offers.
Patience is a conquering virtue. The learned say that, if it not desert you, It vanquishes what force can never reach; Why answer back at every angry speech? No, learn forbearance or, I'll tell you what, You will be taught it, whether you will or not.

  • If you were actually guilty of denying the pope, you wouldn't be worried about it. You don't have to be certain. St. Thomas had doubts even when he was face to face with Our Lord.

  • You’re young and scruples often inflict the young most of all.  We live in confusing times.  It’s not like you’re doubting the Holy Trinity or something.  As another person said, the fact that you’re worried about being in schism indicates that you are not in formal schism even if in material error.  You need to find a good Confessor who can shake you out of your scruples like one did for me.  In any case, scruples can be rooted in pride, and it also speaks to a lack of trust in God’s Mercy.  God is Love.  Just put yourself in His Hands, ask Him to help you find the truth and not offend Him, and all is well.

  • I am not basing my “diagnosis” of scrupulosity on this one post alone but on a series of them now where you’re angsting about committing sin.  Inform your conscience the best that you can and do what you think pleases God and be at peace.
