  • Looking for a pre-Vatican II Catechism.  Are any still in print?

  • You can find the Baltimore Catechism easily. That is pre-Vatican II. And you can also find the Trent Catechism.

  • Is "My Catholic Faith" considered a catechism? It might be based on the Baltimore, I'm downstairs right now and the book is upstairs.

Also, "The Catechism Explained" is good.

I think most pre-Vatican II catechisms are available in reprint. You will find the Baltimore most common here in the US because it was promogulated specifically for US Catholics.

I did some googling myself and I saw this too.  I think "My Catholic Faith" was based on the BC, but used for the kiddos?

  • If I'm not mistaken, the purpose of the Baltimore Catechism was instruction and teaching of the Faith in schools. If you want a complete, quintessential catechism to the core, then just go with the Catechism of the Council of Trent. It comprehensively teaches the Faith without of error.
