"As was mentioned earlier, black folded chasubles and broad stole were no longer used in the Roman liturgy of Good Friday after the revisions to Holy Week in 1955 under Pius XII.

Violet folded chasubles and broad stole were no longer used in the Roman liturgy after the rubrical revisions of John XXIII in 1960."

An excellent article on what we have lost in the fully Catholic Holy Week, with regard to the broad stole and folded chasuble:

Pope Pius XII is arguably one of the worst Popes in history. He was the link to Vatican II by allowing modernism to flourish and thrive via explicit Papal support of things like biblical criticism to evolution by natural sɛƖɛctıon to his extremely poor choice of cardinals. Liturgical ʀɛʋօʟutιօn was only made possible by the reforms that were put in place by the Pius XII/Bugnini changes that overhauled so many things to the point of absurdity.
