Hey everyone, which versions of the Bible are good translations? All responses welcome. Also, I'm always looking for new resources so...can you recommend some great old school Catholic general & women's apps & sites? I would appreciate it. Thanks!

The Douay-Rheims all the way. It's slavishly accurate to the Latin Vulgate, which is the best version EVER, translated by St. Jerome.
What more can you ask for?
You can't have "pretty" AND "faithful" when it comes to translations. You have to take your pick.
The Douay-Rheims is old-fashioned, but who wants a translation of Scripture that talks like the cashier or waitress down the street, or a random young person? It's Scripture for crying out loud. It should sound different.

Tons of commentary by the saints and Fathers, it's what the Haydock is know for. You will come to love it I am sure!

You might like an original DR translation with the extensive annotations of the original translators. Haydock uses some of them, and adds some. Haydock of course is good too, but different. They are both worth having.
I might be violating some rule or other by posting links here, but just google "original Douay Rheims" and you'll see links to sites where you can purchase it in various formats and styles. There's a fascimile version in the original type, a version in modern Roman type . . . they're out there.

If it says highly favored instead of full of grace in St Luke's Gospel, avoid it. And if it doesn't have the Deuterocanicals, since those were taken out during the Reformation, avoid that too.

Here, for starters:

Yep. That's the FIRST passage I look at in any translation. Second I sniff "highly favored one", it's going into the fire.
