  • Very interesting stuff.  Are you suggesting that the Haydock Bible has made translation errors?  I was told that the Haydock version is the greatest thing since slice bread.

  • My Haydock bible is 1883 edition and has the changes you mention.
How old is the bible you have before the changes?
"Let God arise, and let His enemies be scattered: and them that hate Him flee from before His Holy Face"  Psalm 67:2[/b]

  • Which version are your original texts from?  I have a DR New Testament 1899 reprint from a 15?? original (not Haydock)  and the second set of references you give are the same in it.

I never noticed the reference to "bottles" before (Mat 9:17), although glass bottles were made at the time of Christ I'm not sure if they were commonly in use.

My RSV (1946) uses "wineskins" not bottles in Mat 9:17

    Curious.

  • This is why whenever I have a translation question or a question about meaning I go to the Latin.
