Are you praying for the new rosary crusade?

  • I guess most people here know that Bishop Fellay is starting another rosary crusade starting on January 1st. If you don't know, the intentions are:

    1. To implore from the Immaculate Heart of Mary a special protection for the traditional apostolate;
    2. For the return to Tradition within the Church;
    3. For the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary by the consecration of Russia.

    The question I want to ask is are you praying with Fellay this new rosary crusade and filling out the booklet and returning it to your chapel or are you not praying this new rosary crusade?

    I am praying the rosary every day, fifteen decades, as I usually do, but I am not joining in the rosary crusade with Bishop Fellay.
    R.I.P.
    Please pray for the repose of my soul.

  • This will be my first time participating in the Rosary crusade and I'm very much looking forward to it. I pray the Rosary every day, anyway.

  • This will be my first time NOT participating in the Rosary Crusade.

    Oh, I'll be saying my daily Rosary, and I have no problem with the intentions. They are some of the things we pray for anyhow.

    If my intention is to honor Our Lady, get the graces and merits of the Rosary, and for my intentions to be granted, then there's no reason to gather them up in a pile in front of Bishop Fellay.

    That part is only for SSPX negotiating power, prestige, politics, bragging rights, etc.

    But now that I see the pattern -- how the Rosary Crusades are used as a distraction, a publicity tool, a form of "Bread and Circuses" for pious Trads, etc. I don't think I can contribute.

    Attending an SSPX chapel for the Mass is one thing. Signing up for Bishop Fellay's Rosary Crusade is almost like an endorsement of him, or a "confidence" vote. At least that's how many are going to see it.

    In good conscience, I can't do that.

    Now if the POPE were heading up something like this, I would contribute because he's the Pope, and I should follow the pope when he commands something good. But Bishop Fellay isn't the pope :)

  • Matthew, my feelings are similar to yours and I am not participating in the rosary crusade for similar or possibly the same reasons.

  • We should start our own CathInfo Rosary Crusade, with one added option:

    1. To implore from the Immaculate Heart of Mary a special protection for the traditional apostolate;
    2. For the return to Tradition within the Church;
    3. For the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary by the consecration of Russia.
    4. For the good of all Traditional clergy and laity, especially for those unjustly persecuted and exiled recently by the SSPX.

  • Praying 15 decades of the Rosary for the stated intentions is laudable, and is something we should already be doing.  Tallying up our rosaries is another thing altogether.

    But one thing is necessary. Mary hath chosen the best part, which shall not be taken away from her.

  • I'm not participating as I would be uncomfortable handing over my numbers to +Fellay as it would count me as a member of the Conciliar Church at such a time as he presents those tallies to modernist Rome.

    I have a problem the the phrasing of #2, the Church has no need to return to tradition. The Church by its very nature is unchanged. It almost sounds as if the "traditional" Church subsists within the Church by making such a statement.

    I would be happy to pray for an agreeable set of intentions as organized by a group of priests or laymen, provided that it include all Catholics who wish to join. The intentions by their very nature would probably weed out fake Catholics.

    Good point
    If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

  • I pray that the situation will be such that there can be a reconciliation between the pope and the SSPX.

    Mabel beat me to it.  I saw the fliers for the campaign for the first time on Sunday, and also wondered about intention #2.  What is meant by "within the Church"?  I do not consider myself as not "within" the Church.
     St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

    As a matter of logic and grammar, #2 is ambiguous because it does not say WHAT would be doing the returning.  It does not say the return OF something.  It only says the return TO something.

    Using other words would make it more clearly meaningless:  Instead of

    For the return to Tradition within the Church, if we say,

    For the return to First Base within the Ballpark -- what does that mean?  Or,

    For the return to the Penalty Box within Hockey -- what is that for?  Or,

    For the return to page turning within the Library -- does that mean something?  Or,

    For the return to the gold standard within the Doughnut Shop -- get it?

    Someone who says they have the intention #2 in their Rosary could be thinking that it's for the return of Newrome to Tradition, or, for the Neocatchumenal Way to return to Tradition, or for the SSPX to return to Tradition, or for the Resistance or for sedevacantists or for protestants or for voodoo practitioners to return to Tradition.  We have no idea of what it means.  It can mean something different to each person who says they have this intention #2.
