  • When ordinations or consecrations are performed.

    I ask because I have seen traditional ordinations and the bishop sits right in front of the tabernacle giving his back to it.

  • If the door is closed and the tabernacle candle is lit then there are hosts in the tabernacle.

  • In Pontifical Mass, the Blessed Sacrament is supposed to be removed from the tabernacle of the altar that the Mass is celebrated on. However there is nothing in the rubrics forbidding a priest/bishop to sit with his back to the the Blessed Sacrament.
