  • I was just wondering what most here on Cathinfo think of the new Anglican Ordinate instituted in England by Pope Benedict XVI? Personally, I think that if we were to give former Anglicans an authentically English liturgy, it would have to be the Sarum Rite Mass. But these Anglo Catholics in communication with Rome seem extremely traditional, this Anglo Catholic blog even has the SSPX as one of its main links http://www.theanglocatholic.com/about/. Just to be clear, I have absolutely no desire to become Anglo Catholic, it is just a topic I've become interested with lately.

  • I am delighted by it.  We will get an infusion of new Catholics with orthodox theology and morals.  The "Anglican Use" liturgy is the NO at its absolute best, and there is likely to be no fooling around with rubrics.  God bless them.
Stir up within Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the Spirit with which blessed Josaphat, Thy Martyr and Bishop, was filled, when he laid down his life for his sheep: so that, through his intercession, we too may be moved and strengthen by the same Spir

I agree, its great that so many with orthodox beliefs are being drawn to the Church. Although, in my humble opinion it may be more appropriate to revive the Sarum rite and/or Your Use Mass for their use. For they are both authentically Catholic and British.

  • I would certainly be happy if the Sarum Rite were used.  However, is it rally that different from the Tridentine Rite?

I totally agree. The Anglo-Catholics are very devoted to good liturgy. I think this will help the Church.
