  • I've never actually seen one.  I like it, and I think it adds an unique gothic/anglo twist to an altar.  It could really dress up an ugly NO altar for the tridentine mass

  •  :really-mad2:The idea of turning the table used for the community meal into an altar of Sacrifice, and back again strikes me as being as evil as Satan himself.  It matters not how traditional is the disguise.  This is yet another reason to stay away from the motu mass.  How would one know if the altar were really an altar?
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

  • Frances, I understand your opinion, but there have been plenty of times when an ordinary table, even the hood of a military vehicle in wartime, have been used to support an altar.

Bear in mind that the Novus Ordo table is not turned into an altar; there is a special cloth with the relics of saints sewn in that functions as the altar. The table can be just a table, or, as I mentioned above, any flat surface that is not otherwise unsuitable.

Of course, the case could be made that the Novus Ordo table is unsuitable, but at least having the True Mass and True Presence inside a formerly Catholic church building is a benefit.

One way or another, it will all be put right.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, triumph soon!

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.
This evil of heresy spreads itself. The doctrines of godliness are overturned; the rules of the Church are in confusion; the ambition of the unprincipled seizes upon places of authority; and the chief seat [the Papacy] is now openly proposed as a rewar

  •  :dancing-banana:Good point!  The appearance does not make the altar an altar.  But I still have a problem with pretending to be something one is not when it comes to matters of faith.
