I need packages of prayers! I am a total wreck. I am not very responsible. This internet, and computer for that matter, have become too addicting to me, and I have been trying to get away little by little. I also have a hard time seeing myself do as well as anyone, hence another reason why I have been getting behind in all of my classes besides the internet addiction. I have a really really hard time focusing on anything now. I used to do better in high school years ago, but somehow I lost my sense of focus. I have impatience inside of me in just doing anything, like even praying the Rosary, for I get overly scrupulous. I do not do something if I know I cannot do it perfectly or if I know I will make a big mistake. I get very discouraged easily. Also, I have a mother who goes through a lot physical and emotional stress, who worries me a lot. To top it off, I have a stepfather and a father who are being mean and selfish to us at this point. My sister is not really much in the picture anyway at this point. I need to go to confession as well. Besides everything else, I cannot go to the SSPX church in my city without my family or perhaps even some priests giving me a hassle about it. Could you please pray hard that I be fully convinced of the validity of SSPX confessions and marriages too. I am a very weak man now, I do not know what to do to get myself self-sufficient and up to par with life right now.

Please pray for me, a lowly sinner. (I feel like a bother and burden too.)

P.S. I am also having some automobile and medical insurance difficulties as well.

Got it. I wil pray for you. I feel as though I am dancing with dispair myself. I try not to go overboard. As far as the SSPX goes, I think that you are safe with their confessions. I would feel better knowing I had gone to confession through them than most of the Novus Ordo priest I ever knew. Now, with them I question validity or maybe just plain wonder if they had an ounce of Catholic in them anywhere.
Perfectionism is something I struggle with too. I either makes me not try cuz it will never be good enough (for who?) or turns me into a yelling screaming maniac mom.
So, I think we all will pray for each other.
Stay strong, let us know how it is going.

To the original poster: your post describes me also except for the stepfather and the family hassles. Clearly you share my melancholic temperment. You must maintain your prayer life and continually tell yourself that God loves you or you will collapse into your own world of self-condemnation and despair. If it helps I am going through this too.

Just remember, that when you sign up in Our Lord's army, He takes WAY better care of you than any earthly government :)

You will be rewarded for every suffering you bear for love of Him.

Welcome to the forum, student! You are in my prayers too. :) Thank you for the advice. I am indeed a melancholic pretty much. I have some of the phlegmatic temperament too I think. As a matter of fact, just yesterday on the same day I think you posted here, I was reading in The Four Temperaments by Rev. Conrad Hock some advice similar to what you gave in the thread here to me concerning the melancholic temperament.

Everything here describes me perfectly. I was a star in high school and college but now am hitting some really tough times academically and it's caused me to note my age and how I really haven't achieved anything despite my overwhelming success during youth. This has been a major source of despair.

I also have an internet addiction because Catholic sites like this one I find more enjoyable than my studies.

I have auto insurance difficulties too--as in surcharges b/c too many tickets (some of which I got while driving long distances on Sunday morning for the TLM.)

You have health insurance? Be grateful.

I went through something similar in college. The remedy in my case involved some very hard work - every day. There is no easy way to stem the tide where bad habits are concerned. The axe must be laid to the root. When we fail to keep our resolutions (which it is wise to keep moderate), we simply have to get up off the ground, brush the dust off, and re-animate ourselves to do better this time (looking upon the Crucifix is a great way to do this). Life is a warfare, and none shall be admitted into Heaven who are not like their Master - Who will eternally bear the marks of His Crucifixion, as they are a glory to Him.
