  • I forgot to add.  Remember when the mothers were so proud of their families?  The mothers would be bolts of fabric and make matching dresses for their girls for Easter and Christmas.  For Christmas, my mom had 5 red velvet dresses for us, but I chose brocade.  Oh, that was one beautiful dress!!

  • Reposting this thread from two years ago.

This is how I remember the church in the first decade of my life in the 1950's.

  • There are such long lines for confession where I live that the priest had to expand the times for confession and the lines are still long. If you come a half hour after the confessions start then you may not get to go to confession that week.

The picture of all the people waiting for confession is very inspiring!

In the late 1990s and early 2000s when I was still stuck in the mire of the Novus Ordo, I had at least 3 Conciliar priests say from the pulpit that "Church law" forbid the hearing of confessions from Holy Saturday to Easter and one said that confession is "discouraged" during Holy Week.

I never did find out where they got that, but, suffice it to say, they absolutely refused to hear any confessions under any circuмstances.

I'm sorry, I meant to say from Holy THURSDAY to Easter.  They heard no confessions of Good Friday or Holy Saturday.

This is the work of the devil. No confessions on Good Friday, and Holy Saturday.

People can die at any time including Good Friday and Holy Saturday.

In my Parish before Vatican 2, there were always long lines to confession on Good Friday, and
    Holy Saturday.

Just because someone who is in mortal sin has to make his Easter Duty on Easter Sunday,
and because of the State of his life, and work and cannot make it to confession on Friday,
and Saturday. Looses his soul because of some philosophical hell bound jerk decided to
change the rules just to make comfortable the devil taking souls to hell

  • To my knowledge, no soul in their care was in immediate danger of death.  I really don't know what they would have done if someone was actually on their deathbed.

At least one of these (Conciliar) priests was conscientious about confession and heard confessions regularly.  The other three discouraged confessions by making confessions by appointment only.  I asked one of them if he ever heard confessions.  His answer was evasive, but I don't think he had heard a confession in years.

  • For most conciliar priests.  It is all a paycheck with excellent benefits.   Many are lazy too.
mass and confessions are a chore.    And yet many find time to go to gαy bars the night before.
They don't even pray their breviaries.

We pray for these lost souls.
May God bless you and keep you

  • Thank you for sharing those Holy Pictures.   They are proof that "traditional" Catholicism is the true faith.
May God bless you and keep you
