  • Who else is saying or has said them? I've found them to be very powerful prayers and suggest folks use them.

I include them every morning with my other prayers. The promises associated with them are insane!..of course to my knowledge they promises were never verified, but they not my main motivation for saying the prayers.

For anyone interested in the prayers, here's a link to an online copy of the Pieta prayer book that includes them, pick up a copy from your local Catholic bookstore.

People have various problems with this great little book, but whatever.

  • I prayed them for four years straight.  If people don't care for the Pieta Prayer Book, there is also a TAN format.  I really love them.  By a year's end, one usually can pray them by heart.
But one thing is necessary. Mary hath chosen the best part, which shall not be taken away from her.

  • They're really priceless. Keep hold of that praying them in the morning habit for the rest of your life if you can! It will make every day of your life much better.
    Sincerely,

  • Thanks for the link.  I looked at one of those books in the local religious bookstore, and it has been updated somewhat , from JPII s area.

I still have my older edition , a little tathered but have the older version of the prayers.  I will have my second complete year in May.
    God spead..

  • Awesome guys! I plan on using them until I go! I really want to get a copy of the revelations of St. Bridget. I am amazed by her story.

I did notice some minor differences in the Pieta from a copy I used to have, I'm guessing it was the TAN format that Magdelena mentioned?

  • Regarding the two-volume set of "The Revelations of Saint Bridget", I don't know how much a friend of mine paid for hers, but on Amazon it runs $63 per volume (hardcover).

  • This is St Bridget of Sweden. I thought it might have been St Bridget of Ireland who is a patron Saint of Ireland, along with St Patrick and St Columcille. Never read this prophesy, as I dont believe in prophesy usually, except if it comes from the Virgin Mary.

I agree.  Having a tome of spiritual value in hardcover--better yet, leather--is priceless.  I've been looking for "Preparation for Death" by Saint Alphonsus de Liguori in the red hardcover by Benzinger for years now.  I read it every Lent--but mine's a paperback. Perhaps I'll have it recovered in leather before it starts falling apart.

Would you recommend that book by St. Alphonsus Ligouri or anything else to me, a new convert, for Lent? They have it at the book shop here. I'd like something to read in the morning specifically through Lent.

  • Sorry to break it to you, but the Holy Office warned Catholics about these prayers in 1954. When I first heard about them, I did some digging, as I normally do on every visionary I find out about. Here's what it said.

     ACTA APOSTOLICAE SEDIS
    SUPREMA SACRA CONGREGATIO S. OFFICII
    MONITUM

In aliquibus locis divulgatum est opusculum quoddam, cui titulus "SECRETUM FELICITATIS - Quindecim orationes a Domino S. Birgittae in ecclesia S. Pauli, Romae, revelatae", Niceae ad Varum (et alibi), variis linguis editum.

cuм vero in eodem libello asseratur S. Birgittae quasdam promissiones a Deo fuisse factas, de quarum origine supernaturali nullo modo constat, caveant Ordinarii locorum ne licentiam concedant edendi vel denuo impremendi opuscula vel scripta quae praedictas promissiones continent.

Datum Romae, ex Aedibus S. Officii, die 28 Ianuarii 1954.
Marius Crovini, Supremae S. Congr. S. Officii Notarius

    Acts of the Holy See
    Congregation of the Holy Office
    Warning

In some places, a certain little work has been disseminated called the "Secret of Happiness: 15 Prayers Revealed by the Lord to St. Bridget in the Church of St. Paul at Rome", published at Nice and various other places in several languages.

Since it is asserted in this pamphlet that God made to St. Bridget certain promises, whose supernatural origin in no way stands up, let local ordinaries take care not to grant permission for publishing or reprinting pamphlets or other writings which contain these aforementioned promises.

Given at Rome, from the offices of the Holy Office, 28 , January 1954
Marius Crovini, Notary of the Supreme Holy, Congregation of the Holy Office
    Matthew 5:37

But let your speech be yea, yea: no, no: and that which is over and above these, is of evil.

  • I researched that before I started using the prayers, thanks for posting though.

I hope this thread isn't turned into a debate on whether or not we should use the prayers.
