Did you know that the 12 Days of Christmas actually originated in England during the time of persecutions there, in order to teach/spread the Faith?  I always thought that was interesting.

It was also spread by embroidering hidden messages in lace, fabrics and things like vestments in many parts of the world.

Victorians were well-known for their "Language of Flowers." Each kind of flower has a specific meaning, etc., so a person could assemble a bouquet of specific flowers and propose marriage, reject it, announce a friendship, grieve a death, and so on.

You might like looking up things like Mary Gardening. It's fun. For example, there is a legacy of Rosemary and why it is blue, and what it represents and how it got its fragrance. It was said that Our Lady would hang the clothes of the Baby Jesus up to dry, and that the herb developed its aroma because of it. It is blue because Our Lady hung them.

It was years ago that I heard that, and haven't an exact source at the ready, but I think it came from some papers my Mom had that were left after she died. I have no clue what happened to them; she had a ton of stuff I gave away or sold, etc.

But there are still some books around and websites available. Anne :-)

Really pretty, thanks! I had found one by accident last night while reading that lady's obituary Donna Kath? Or DonnKath? Excuse me. Anyway, there was one listed on an Australian Latin Mass FB page. I am not on FB, but their page is public.

I think I like yours better though, Emile. I prefer real people in the pictures, and I really like the one of the Nuns outside in the snow with the lit bushes and the statue. Pretty!

God bless, Anne. :-)

…On the twelfth day of holidays the V2 anti-popes gave to me:
Twelve press conferences speaking,
Eleven Marxists scheming,
Ten priests molesting,
Nine feet a washing,
Eight candles burning,
Seven council docuмents writing,
Six new beatitudes preaching,
Five plus heresies,
Four cardinals doubting,
Three meetings at Assisi,
Two John Paul's,
And a new code in ’83.

I didn't click on you link, and nor will I. I will just say that this has to be the worst post I have read here yet, and that is saying something. It is in very poor taste to spoil Emile's thread with this. And during Christmas-tide no less!

This is not funny, and nor does it do anything to teach about the Twelve Days of Christmas. Isn't there some sort of bad-taste corner you can go to around here? Or the joke section? Barf.

Not "ruin," merely a comparison. Lighten up. Pontificate less. Life is short and hard.

May this uplift you… https://judaism.is/sacred-art.html (https://judaism.is/sacred-art.html)

This sounds great as an urban legend and all, but why not just remember "1-12"?

I don't need a song to remember there's some significance to each number 12 and under.
Off the top of my head:

1. God
2. Two Divine Natures of Christ.
3. Trinity
4. Four cardinal virtues
5. 5 sacred wounds, 5 books of the Pentateuch (Books of Moses)
6. 6 days of Creation
7. The Sabbath day God rested
8. The Eight Beatitudes
9. Nine choirs of angels
10. The Ten Commandments
11. The 11 faithful Apostles
12. Twelve tribes of Israel, Twelve Fruits of the Holy Ghost

No song necessary.

In fact, I'll go further: the song does NOTHING to nudge you or help you remember the significance of any of these numbers. All it does is remind you of the EXISTENCE of these numbers -- which, again, you don't need. If the words helped you IN ANY WAY to remember the significance of a given number, maybe you'd have a point. But none of the "twelve days of christmas" items are anything close to what it represents.

Oh, and why would Protestant England -- even during the Penal Times -- be against the Pentateuch, the 6 days of creation, or the Apostles? Couldn't those have been more explicit in the song? Why all the code words and secrecy? Anglicans are creationists too, right?

At the start, Anglicans were basically acting like communists.  Just like today, the goal is not "health/safety" but control.  Same thing back then - the goal was not to start a new loving/Anglican religion but to eradicate Catholicism.  Cramner's and Queen Elizabeth's "reign of terror" was a precursor to the French Revolution in its horror and barbarism.

Deaf baby hears mom and dad for first time (msn.com)

(https://www.msn.com/en-ca/lifestyle/family/deaf-baby-hears-mom-and-dad-for-first-time/vi-AASj4pY?ocid=msedgntp)A sweet little boy we know was born blind. He relies on his senses of touch, hearing and smell and taste to understand his world. He absolutely LOVES music, and is very sensitive to vibrations and movement. His patient and loving family teach him the Faith through music and such. I am sure that he is more perfect than many souls and I don't think he is capable of mortal sin if I understand correctly. I am sure he will be very happy to finally see his family in heaven because he cannot see his amazing family now.
