The answer to this question can only be satisfactorily answered by the following theological principles enunciated by Rev. Fr. Reginald Garrigou-Lagrange in the first chapter of his work, The Love of God and the Cross of Jesus (trans. Sister Jeanne Marie, O. P.; Vol. 1.; St. Louis, MO: B. Herder Book Co., 1951).
