  • I can personally attest to the invaluable contribution this book has made to the history of modern cosmology as well as Church history as it discerns and explains cosmological and historical truths as seen through the eyes of truth, i.e. through the eyes of traditional Catholicism. I have placed it here at this time in tribute to Cassini who quite recently disclosed his diagnosis of a greatly debilitating disease.  See Bad news for Cassini - page 1 - Catholic Living in the Modern World - Catholic Info

Cassini, under the pen name James Redmond O'Hanlon (a most interesting choice as you will see if you look up Redmond O'Hanlon!), is the self-disclosed author of this most incredible work, The Earthmovers which is the subject of perhaps one of the longest and most viewed threads on CathInfo as seen at THE EARTHMOVERS - page 1 - Fighting Errors in the Modern World - Catholic Info.  May, God willing, this work stand the test of time and grow in significance and influence, especially as an attraction to the traditional Catholic Faith.

One of the greatest obstacles to the restoration of the Faith is the difficulty of identifying and eradicating the roots of the revolution against it.  In his monumental work The Earthmovers, author James Redmond O’Hanlon exposes the roots of the revolution in the rejection of God’s Revelation regarding the position of the Earth in the universe and in the failure of the Church leadership to continue the courageous efforts of their predecessors to defend that Revelation, beginning as early as the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.  In spite of the widespread belief that heliocentrism was eventually “proven” by advances in astronomy, O’Hanlon shows that the champions of the heliocentric hypothesis have never provided proof beyond a reasonable doubt for their model of the solar system and that the Neo-Tychonic geocentric-geostatic model of the universe continues to explain all of the experimental and observational evidence better than any of the competing models.  The Earthmovers shows that the failure of the Church leadership to defend God’s Word in regard to the Earth’s position in the cosmos as it had been understood in the Church from the beginning paved the way for the modernist revolution against the traditional faith and practice of the Church by exalting fallible human science above divine science, an error which the Angelic Doctor identifies as “the source of all heresy.”

Thank you!  I didn't see this thread until now.   Now I understand why Cassini was so good in his "earth arguments" all of these years!  May God bless him for all the good he has done in writing this book and defending the truth here on this forum!

  • Thanks Mat123.  The edition you referred to has been edited but not published yet.

I have written a mini version of the effect the Galileo case has had on churchmen, a 50 page edition
    and having it printed up.

Here are the first two pages.

‘The heaven is My throne, and the Earth a footstool for My feet.
What house will you build Me says the Lord,
or what shall be the place of My resting?’ (Acts 7:49)

Here above, in Holy Scripture, we find the Lord God, using the analogy of the fixed Earth of the Holy Bible as His footstool, asking what kind of Church will mankind build Him on His place of resting, the Earth. So, two-thousand years later, let us recall what happened, and see where His ‘footstool’ is today.

On the eve of the Amazon Synod held on October, 5th 2019, 10 Catholic lay leaders warned of the revolutionary designs against the Catholic faith from inside and outside the Catholic Church. Hosted by the pro-life group, Voice of the Family, the discussion, titled “Our Church, Reformed or Deformed,” featured a number of Catholic men active in trying to preserve what is left of the traditional Catholic faith on Earth in our time. One speaker summarised when and how this modern ‘reformation’ began in the Catholic Church:

‘Satan uniquely entered the Catholic Church at some point over the last century, or even before. For over a century, the organizers of Fɾҽҽmαsσɳɾყ, Liberalism, and Modernism infiltrated the Catholic Church in order to change her doctrine, her liturgy and her mission from something supernatural to something secular.’--- (Taylor Marshall, LifeSiteNews, October 4, 2019.)

So, what happened in the last century or before that gave birth to Modernism in the Catholic Church by way of ‘Satan’ introducing changes from the traditional supernatural doctrine of Catholicism to a faith based on the secular that led to the demise of traditional Catholic faith on Earth? Well, from 1757 to 1835 and thereafter, for the first time in the history of the Church, popes began to adopt and promote a secular story of Creation rather than abide by the supernatural one of traditional Catholicism. In Scripture, it literally states in many places, that the sun (and stars) turn around God’s footstool, the Earth, created fixed at the centre of the universe (geocentrism), a revelation held by all the Fathers and popes of the Church up to that time. Accordingly, the early Church had condemned as heresy the old pagan belief that the Earth moves around a fixed-sun (heliocentrism). This 1820 Biblical U-turn by popes, was based on their delusion heliocentrism was proven by Isaac Newton, Stellar Aberration, Stellar Parallax and Leon Foucault’s pendulum. This was the same Biblical meaning proposed by Galileo who claimed that the references to a moving-sun in Scripture were metaphors, not literal, an assertion rejected by Pope Paul V in 1616, with Galileo being tried later in 1633 by Pope Urban VIII’s Inquisition, at which he was found guilty of suspected heresy. It was this change of Biblical meaning that began the revision of Church doctrine, her liturgy and her mission from something supernatural to something secular.

Quote: ‘As a result of the collapse of geocentrism, which the Church has come to accept, she is now caught between her historic-dogmatic representation of the world’s origin, on the one hand, and the requirements of her most fundamental dogmas on the other, so that she cannot retain the former without to some degree sacrificing the latter… In earlier times until Galileo, there was perfect compatibility between historical representation and the Fall and dogmas of universal Redemption, and all the more easily too, in that each was modelled on the other… Today we know with certainty that the stellar universe is not centred on the Earth, and that terrestrial life is not centred on mankind.’----Fr Teilhard de Chardin SJ. Christianity and Evolution, Collins, 1971, p. 36.

Throughout its history, the Catholic faith has warned its flock that Satan is the ‘Father of lies,’ capable even of fooling the elect (Matt. 24:24), those men who preside over the running of the Catholic Church. According to Genesis, Satan had successfully tempted Adam and Eve, the first two human beings, with the promise if they ignored God’s order not to eat the forbidden fruit, then they would gain more knowledge than that given to them by God. The consequences of this Original Sin brought suffering and death to all humanity thereafter. The Devil obviously knew if that lie worked with Adam and Eve, why wouldn’t the very same lie work with their weakened descendants? So, let us begin with the first most important Catholic doctrine to be eliminated by Satan’s deceit, ‘Who made the world?’ The supernatural answer, ‘God made the world,’ an act of faith both dogmatised by Councils and inserted in prayer:

‘God…Creator of all visible and invisible things, of the spiritual and of the corporal; who by His own omnipotent power at once from the beginning of time created each creature from nothing, spiritual and corporal, namely, angelic and mundane, and finally the human, both of the spirit and the body.’ (Lateran Council IV, 1215).

‘All that exists outside God was, in its whole substance, produced out of nothing by God. (De fide.) (Vatican Council I, 1870)

‘I believe in one God, the Father almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth,
and of all things visible and invisible.’—(Nicene Creed)

The Book of Genesis, written by Moses around the 5th century before Christ, under the auspices of the Holy Ghost, reveals that God created all, in its whole substance, over six days, 4,000 years before Christ was born. ‘Substance,’ we know from classic philosophy, means ‘what something is,’ finished, and not journeying to what something can become or will become.

Day 7: So the heavens and the Earth were finished, and all the furniture of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made: and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had done.--- The Book of Genesis.

  • next few pages of MINI TE.

St Augustine proposed all things were created instantly, but described in Genesis as over six days. Either way, both understandings confirm an immediate finished Creation of all. This dogma of supernatural Creation was then recorded in Catholic theology, metaphysics and art. Saint Thomas Aquinas, who from 1265-1273 compiled Summa theologiae, a compendium of theology to explain the Catholic faith among the flock, on Creation wrote:

‘That the world began to exist is an object of faith, but not of demonstration or science. And it is useful to consider this, lest anyone, presuming to demonstrate what is of faith, should bring forward reasons that are not cogent, so as to give occasion to unbelievers to laugh, thinking that on such grounds we believe things that are of faith.’--- St. Thomas Aquinas, (Summa theologiae I.46.2)

Nevertheless, a ‘scientifically proven’ secular evolved story of origins, never finished, has been long held by popes and most clergy. In 1951, Pope Pius XII proposed a Big Bang of 13.7 billion years ago was God’s creative act as we will see. Next to be eliminated was the first dogma of the Catholic faith in Ludwig Ott’s book Fundamentals of Catholic Dogma. It states ‘God, our Creator and Lord, can be known with certainty by the natural light of reason from created things.’ According to a ‘scientific’ story of origins that doesn’t need a Creator now taught worldwide, this dogma is also long redundant. The certainty in God’s Creation, St Thomas taught, was recognising the ‘good and finished’ perfect order of all things on Earth and in the sky. We see on the Earth’s lands and in the seas, God provided every need for living creatures and mankind to survive as long as He intends, from their perfect life-forms, their environment and foods, one depending on the other, even the materials and minerals needed for human existence on Earth. We also see in the sky the sun and stars turning endlessly around the Earth bringing day and night and the seasons in perfect perpetual order. Later, when astronomers had saved the appearance of the planets as seen from the Earth and illustrated some of these movements, did man further observe more certainties of God in the heavens

Seen accordingly above by mankind, with the Earth at rest in the centre, our spiritual intellect saw that our central place in the universe confirms with certainty a divine cause for such distinctiveness. Once such belief in God was attained through human reasoning, then mankind would be more favourable to the revelations and prophesies the Triune God prepared for our redemption; those recorded in the Old and New Testaments. To all this we can add:

‘God created the Earth [at rest] conjointly with the heavens in order to call into existence Hell in its centre; for, at the instant of its creation there were left in the interior of that globe spacious and wide cavities, suitable for Hell, Purgatory and Limbo.’--- Mary of Agreda: The Mystical City of God.’

‘Now that He ascended, what is it, but because He also descended
first into the lower parts of the earth.’ (St Paul Eph., Ch.4:9)

‘The last is natural reason. There is no doubt that it is indeed reasonable that the place of devils and wicked damned men should be as far as possible from the place where God, angels and blessed saints will be forever, the abode of the blessed (as our adversaries agree) in heaven, and no place further removed from heaven than [Hell at] the centre of the Earth.’--- paraphrase attributed to St Thomas Aquinas.

Is it any wonder then that a sacred doctrine of geocentrism with its inherent human-centred anthropocentrism was developed within Catholicism.

‘This doctrine [of geocentrism] was of the highest respectability: it had been developed at a very early period, and had been elaborated until it accounted well for the apparent movements of the heavenly bodies. Saint Clement of Alexandria (150-215AD) demonstrated that the altar in the Jєωιѕн tabernacle was “a symbol of the Earth placed in the middle of the universe.” Wrought into this foundation, and based upon it, there was developed in the Middle Ages, mainly out of fragments of Chaldean and other early theories preserved in the Hebrew Scriptures, a new sacred system of astronomy, which became one of the great treasures of the universal Church – the last word of revelation. Three great men mainly reared this structure. First was the unknown who gave to the world the treatises ascribed to Dionysius the Areopagite (1st cen. AD). It was unhesitatingly believed that these were the work of St Paul’s Athenian convert, and therefore virtually of St Paul himself.….The next of these three great theologians was Archbishop Peter Lombard, Professor at the University of Paris. About the middle of the twelfth century, he gave forth his collection of Sentences, or statements by the Fathers, and this remained until the end of the Middle Ages the universal manual of theology. The great triad of thinkers culminated in St Thomas Aquinas – the sainted theologian, the glory of the medieval Church, the ‘Angelic Doctor,’ Large of mind, strong, acute, yet just to his opponents, he gave forth, in the latter half of the thirteenth century, his Cyclopaedia of Theology, the Summa Theologica. In this St Thomas carried the sacred theory of the universe to its full development. With great power and clearness, he brought the whole vast system, material and spiritual, into its relations to God and man….To attack it was blasphemy. It stood for centuries. Great theological men of science like Vincent of Beauvais (1184-1264) and Cardinal Pierre d’Ailly (1351-1420) devoted themselves to showing not only that it was supported by Scripture, but also that it supported Scripture. Thus was the geocentric theory embedded in the beliefs and aspirations, in the hopes and fears of Christendom down to the middle of the sixteenth century.’--- Written by the anti-Catholic Andrew White: A History of the Warfare of Science with Theology in Christendom, 1896, pp.116-120.

Now if there is a devil called Satan, determined to eliminate God from the minds of mankind, surely the fact that humans were created on Earth at the centre of the universe had to be the first ‘natural light of reason from created things’ that had to be taken from our reasoning. So, before Christ was born, Satan had planted such a lie among pagans, while adding many associated deceits to further remove the need for a supernatural God Creator from the senses and minds of mankind, delusions like the world evolved naturally from atoms, that the universe is infinite, that the Earth rotates and orbits sun, and that there are many other worlds with intelligent creatures living on them. We see then, Satan laid down for Adam and Eve’s descendants what became for us the ‘science’ of origins, i.e., nothing more than mind-delusions conjured up to eliminate God as Creator of the universe and all on Earth. When the Church of Christ was founded, it condemned all these beliefs as heresies and false philosophies, a fact confirmed by the anti-geocentrist Prof. A. A. Martinez.

‘Our present book traces the development of ancient Pythagorean beliefs about religion, astronomy and their interconnection, explaining how early Christian Church Fathers condemned such beliefs….Saint Hippolytus (150-236AD) of Rome criticised the “alliance between heresy and the Pythagorean philosophy” and he denounced the “enormous and endless heresies” of the “disciples not of Christ, but of Pythagoras.”…I will show how the cult of Pythagoras became notorious for anti-Christian beliefs, polytheism, the transmigration of souls, divination, the plurality and eternity of worlds, and denials of the uniqueness and divinity of Jesus.’--Prof. A. A. Martinez: Pythagoras or Christ, Independent Publishing, 2014.

Then there were the Gnostics, one of the earliest Jєωιѕн and ‘Christian’ communities who taught many false tenets about the faith, who in the 2nd century after Christ, insisted Genesis must not be read literally and claimed to have access to ‘secret knowledge’ about God and the true origin and nature of the universe and mankind. Then, after many years of condemnation and cleansing of Gnosticism begun by Bishop Irenaeus (130-203AD), in order to preserve their pagan beliefs from total elimination by the Roman Church, the Gnostics, and other early heretics like the Hermetics, recorded them in books hidden away, awaiting a time when man would be open to their tenets again.

On May 29, 1453, the ancient city of Byzantium fell to the Ottoman Turks. Its libraries were raided and some of these books became available for the first time in a thousand years. Soon after, an assortment of these docuмents were bought by the wealthy Medici family and taken back to Italy.

‘In 1460… a Tuscan monk rode unobtrusively into Florence on a donkey. Attached to his side was a bundle of cloth in which a small collection of books had been packed. Leonardo da Pistoia who had travelled a long way, took his precious cargo directly to the Doge of Florence, Cosimo de’ Medici (1389-1464). An intellectual [and doctrinal] nuclear bomb was about to explode.’--- (Hancock & Bauval. Talisman, Penguin Books, 2004.)
