  • In the Old Testament at Jeremias 31:31-32 God warned the Israelites that the Mosaic Covenant would be replaced  by a NEW Covenant that was UNLIKE the Mosaic Covenant.

excerpted from my Understand the Covenants page archived at: https://archive.is/vdJGV

God did not promise to reward disobedience with power, admiration, or a real estate deal in the Middle East; He promised dispersal and misery, even to vomit them out.

Keep ye my ordinances and my judgments, and do not any of these abominations: neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you. For all these detestable things the inhabitants of the land have done, that; were before you, and have defiled it. Beware then, lest in like manner, it vomit you also out, if you do the like things, as it vomited out the nation that was before you. Every soul that shall commit any of these abominations, shall perish from the midst of his people. Keep my commandments. Do not the things which they have done, that have been before you, and be not defiled therein. I am the Lord your God. Leviticus 18:26-30

To pretend that the Mosaic Covenant has not been revoked, Judaizers will quote half verses claiming that Jesus insisted He did not come to destroy the Law. Invariably the Judaizers omit the full quote, including: “…till all be fulfilled.”

“Do not think that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets. I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For amen I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot, or one tittle shall not pass of the law, till all be fulfilled.” Matthew 5:17-18

“Afterwards, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, said: I thirst.” John 19:28

And when He fulfilled “all things” from Scripture on Calvary, the temple veil was torn (Matthew 27:51), the Old Law was dead, “made void,” “blotted out,” “set aside,” “taken away”. The Old Law was replaced by the two greatest commandments:

“Master, which is the greatest commandment in the law?  Jesus said to him: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with thy whole mind.  This is the greatest and the first commandment.  And the second is like to this: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.  On these two commandments dependeth the whole law and the prophets.” Matthew 22:36-40

Note carefully: “On these two commandments dependeth the whole law and the prophets,” no longer dependent upon Moses, but upon Jesus Christ and His two greatest commandments!

God judged the nation of Israel (see the floating column at right of  this page)

So, for their disobedience as a nation, as a people, the Bible says the Mosaic Covenant/Law has been replaced, annulled: “made void,” “blotted out,” “set aside,” “taken away”:

What part of replaced, annulled, “made void,” “blotted out,” “set aside,” “taken away” don’t “Bible Believers” understand?

Through His Angels and Prophets Jeremias and Moses, God judged that Israel, not He, had voided the Mosaic Covenant and so He warned that He would replace the Mosaic covenant:

Behold the days shall come, saith the Lord, and I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Juda: Not according to the covenant which I made with their fathers, in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt: the covenant which they made void, and I had dominion over them, saith the Lord. Jeremias 31:31-32

They are returned to the former iniquities of their fathers, who refused to hear my words: so these likewise have gone after strange gods, to serve them: the house of Israel, and the house of Juda have made void my covenant, which I made with their fathers. Jeremias 11:10

And the Lord said to Moses: Behold thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, and this people rising up will go a fornicating after strange gods in the land, to which it goeth in to dwell: there will they forsake me, and will make void the covenant, which I have made with them. Deuteronomy 31:16

…and make void my covenantDeuteronomy 31:20

And the wrath of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he said: Behold this nation hath made void my covenant, which I had made with their fathers, and hath despised to hearken to my voice: Judges 2:20

Who also hath made us fit ministers of the new testament, not in the letter, but in the spirit. For the letter killeth, but the spirit quickeneth. Now if the ministration of death, engraven with letters upon stones, was glorious; so that the children of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of Moses, for the glory of his countenance, which is made void: How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather in glory? For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more the ministration of justice aboundeth in glory. For even that which was glorious in this part was not glorified, by reason of the glory that excelleth. For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is in glory. Having therefore such hope, we use much confidence: And not as Moses put a veil upon his face, that the children of Israel might not steadfastly look on the face of that which is made void. But their senses were made dull. For, until this present day, the selfsame veil, in the reading of the old testament, remaineth not taken away (because in Christ it is made void). But even until this day, when Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart.

Blotting out the handwriting of the decree that was against us, which was contrary to us. And he hath taken the same out of the way, fastening it to the cross: And despoiling the principalities and powers, he hath exposed them confidently in open shew, triumphing over them in himself. Colossians 2:14-15

Making void the law of commandments contained in decrees; that he might make the two in himself into one new man, making peace… Ephesians 2:15

There is indeed a setting aside of the former commandment, because of the weakness and unprofitableness thereof. Hebrews 7:18

Now of the things which we have spoken, this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of majesty in the heavens, A minister of the holies, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord hath pitched, and not man. For every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is necessary that he also should have some thing to offer. If then he were on earth, he would not be a priest: seeing that there would be others to offer gifts according to the law, Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things. As it was answered to Moses, when he was to finish the tabernacle: See (saith he) that thou make all things according to the pattern which was shewn thee on the mount. But now he hath obtained a better ministry, by how much also he is a mediator of a better testament, which is established on better promises. For if that former had been faultless, there should not
indeed a place have been sought for a second. For finding fault with them, he saith: Behold, the days shall come, saith the Lord: and I will perfect unto the house of Israel, and unto the house of Juda, a new testament: Not according to the testament which I made to their fathers, on the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt: because they continued not in my testament: and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. For this is the testament which I will make to the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord: I will give my laws into their mind, and in their heart will I write them: and I will be their God, and they shall be my people: And they shall not teach every man his neighbour and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me from the least to the greatest of them: Because I will be merciful to their iniquities, and their sins I will remember no more. Now in saying a new, he hath made the former old. And that which decayeth and groweth old, is near its end. Hebrews 8:1-13

Then said I: Behold, I come to do thy will, O God: he taketh away the first, that he may establish that which followeth. Hebrews 10:9

Therefore I say to you, that the kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and shall be given to a nation yielding the fruits thereof. Matthew 21:43

But you [speaking to the Christians] are a chosen generation, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a purchased people: that you may declare his virtues, who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: Who in time past were not a people: but are now the people of God. Who had not obtained mercy; but now have obtained mercy. 1 Peter 2:9-10

As for the ѕуηαgσgυє’s supposed real estate deal in the Holy Land, the Bible says this:

When you shall have transgressed the covenant of the Lord your God, which he hath made with you, and shall have served strange gods, and adored them: then shall the indignation of the Lord rise up quickly and speedily against you, and you shall be taken away from this excellent land, which he hath delivered to you. Josue (Joshua) 23:16

    Supersessionism, “replacement theology,”
    is God’s theology.

Scripture trumps the Dual Covenant heresy.

Holy Writ is one line of evidence. Reason is another line of evidence.

If the Mosaic Covenant was sufficient to save, to open the gates of Heaven, if the insufficient animal sacrifices of the Mosaic Covenant did not need to be superseded by the New Covenant promised in Jeremias 31:31-32, there would never have been a need for the Incarnation, Ministry, Passion, Crucifixion, and Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, True God and True Man, Messiah, Who can neither deceive nor be deceived.

The everlasting Covenant is fulfilled in the New Israel, the New Covenant, the One True Church that Jesus Christ Himself founded for His New Chosen People, the spiritual lineage of Abraham and Moses, the people who choose Him, who are baptized, believe, and behave as He taught.

God is no fool Who engages in useless works. Believe God or believe the rabbis—every person’s choice, every person’s eternal fate.

A third line of evidence for supersession is the Magisterium

“§ 712 It [the Holy Catholic Church] firmly believes, professes, and teaches that the matter pertaining to the law of the Old Testament, of the Mosaic law, which are divided into ceremonies, sacred rites, sacrifices, and sacraments, because they were established to signify something in the future, although they were suited to Divine worship at that time, after our Lord's coming had been signified by them, ceased, and the Sacraments of the New Testament began; and that whoever, even after the passion, placed hope in these matters of law and submitted himself to them as necessary for salvation, as if faith in Christ could not save without them, sinned mortally. Yet it does not deny that after the passion of Christ up to the promulgation of the Gospel they could have been observed until they were believed to be in no way necessary for salvation; but after the promulgation of the Gospel it asserts they cannot be observed without the loss of eternal salvation. All, therefore, who after that time observe circuмcision and the Sabbath and the other requirements of the law, it declares alien to the Christian faith and not in the least fit to participate in eternal salvation, unless someday they recover from these errors....

“§714 The Most Holy Roman Church firmly believes, professes and preaches that none of those existing outside the Catholic Church, not only pagans, but also Jєωs, and heretics, and schismatics, can ever be partakers of eternal life, but that they are to go into the eternal fire 'which was prepared for the devil, and his angels,' (Matthew 25:41) unless before death they are joined with Her; and that so important is the unity of this Ecclesiastical Body, that only those remaining within this unity can profit from the sacraments of the Church unto salvation, and that they alone can receive an eternal recompense for their fasts, alms deeds, and other works of Christian piety and duties of a Christian soldier. No one, let his almsgiving be as great as it may, no one, even if he pour out his blood for the Name of Christ, can be saved unless they abide within the bosom and unity of the Catholic Church.”

Cantate Domino, from the infallible ecuмenical Council of Florence under His Holiness Pope Eugene IV defining the Solemn Doctrine: Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus (“Outside the Church, there is no salvation.”), promulgated by papal bull, February 4, 1444 [Florentine calendar] in Denziger, Enchiridion Symbolorum, The Sources of Catholic Dogma§ 712-714

“Hence, also, that understanding of its sacred dogmas must be perpetually retained, which Holy Mother Church has once declared; and there must never be recession from that meaning under the specious name of a deeper understanding.”

Dei Filius, from the infallible ecuмenical First Vatican Council, Dogmatic Constitution , Ch. 4 [1870] in Denziger, Enchiridion Symbolorum, The Sources of Catholic Dogma§ 1800

    Still “Chosen”?

The Israelites, specifically the House of David, were chosen (past tense) for the birth of their Messiah. The good Israelites accepted their Messiah and the New Covenant that was promised in Jeremias 31:31-32, a new covenant because the Israelites as a nation had voided the Mosaic Covenant (see also Mark 7:7-9). Those who chose their Messiah were the New Israel, the true Jєωs in the lineage of Abraham and Moses.

The wicked Israelites connived their Messiah’s judicial murder over the objection of the timid Roman governor.

Those who choose to reject and revile Him still are no longer “chosen.” They do not have a deed to the Holy Land. They are exactly what God Himself says in Apocalypse 3:9: “…the ѕуηαgσgυє of Satan, those who say they are Jєωs, and are not, but do lie.” God’s Words—Does God “hate” them? Or do they hate Him?

God has been crystal clear about HIS JUDGEMENT and HIS PUNISHMENT for their free will behavior and genocidal Master Race creed (“The best of the Gentiles should all be killed.”):

What part of that is difficult to understand?

Who are the Chosen People Today?
But you [speaking to the Christians] are a chosen generation, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a purchased people: that you may declare his virtues, who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: Who in time past were not a people: but are now the people of God. Who had not obtained mercy; but now have obtained mercy. 1 Peter 2:9-10
