  • By the help of God's holy grace and according as the exigencies of duty and circuмstance allow, I purpose yet again to present the Sermons which Saint Bernard preached upon the Canticle of Canticles, taken from the tome St. Bernard's Sermons on the Canticle of Canticles: Translated from the Original Latin by a Priest of Mount Melleray, (Vol. I.; Dublin: Browne and Nolan, Ltd., 1920).

May the tutelage of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the intercession of St. Bernard avail these pages unto the increase of the theological and moral virtues, together with the gifts of the Holy Ghost, in the souls of those who earnestly endeavor to serve our Lord Jesus and His Blessed Mother with pure and humble hearts, that with the light of the Doctor mellifluus they may understand with lively faith and esteem with ardent charity the breadth and the length, the height and the depth, of those hallowed Mysteries of our Faith that exceed all that created knowledge and effability can possibly offer to our minds (cf. Eph. cap. iii., 18, 19).
Please ignore all that I have written regarding sedevacantism.

  • Thank you, Hobbledehoy.  The Canticle of Canticles is one of the most beautiful and complex books in the Bible.  Having at our fingertips St. Bernard's Sermons on it is invaluable.
But one thing is necessary. Mary hath chosen the best part, which shall not be taken away from her.
    Luke 10:42
