  • May the celestial unction and heavenly tutelage of Saint Bernard, the Doctor mellifluus, avail by means of the following pages unto the increase of the theological virtues, together with the gifts of the Holy Ghost, in the souls of those who earnestly endeavor to serve our Lord Jesus with pure and humble hearts, particularly by greater knowledge and love for His Most Holy Mother: they may understand with lively faith and esteem with ardent charity the breadth and the length, the height and the depth, of those hallowed Mysteries of our Faith that exceed all that which created knowledge and effability can possibly offer to our minds, especially those Mysteries pertaining to the great Mother of God (cf. Eph. ch. iii., 18, 19).

  • From St. Bernard's Sermons for the Seasons & Principal Festivals of the Year: Translated from the Original Latin by a Priest of Mount Melleray, (Vol. III.; Westminster, MD: The Carroll Press, 1950), here is a Sermon preached by Saint Bernard on the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, "On the Reception of the Son by the Mother in the Incarnation and of the Mother by the Son in the Assumption."
