I’ve heard about this aspect as well they really took it hard from both ends. My father collected autographs from the ww2 generation before they passed and filled a ww2 book with signatures mostly USA but he had a few Germans in there as well. I’m glad he tried to drill into my head the whole thing was a mess and never blamed one side or the other and included ally atrocities with the Germans. I never had that preset conditioning German bad ally good he always maintained the common folk payed the price for failed leadership all around. But he always said Poland took the worst of it being stuck straight in the middle. They were tough people too. Obviously growing up in the early 2000s in public school we really learned nothing of value at all about ww2. Or 1 for that matter.
