And I think a real part of the problem for a lot of Prots and even many Catholics and others is that they do not come anywhere near to realizing the degree of suffering the Blessed Mother endured and endured most lovingly not only on behalf of her and our God, but on behalf of her children, the human race. No doubt, our eyes will be greatly opened to this fact in Purgatory if we go there and even more so in Heaven.
Private revelations such as those conveyed to us by the Venerable Maria de Agreda in her colossal work The Mystical City of God go into profoundly moving detail concerning this suffering. Not only did she suffer exceedingly and excruciatingly in her immense mental agony, but she suffered the actual physical pains suffered by her Son Jesus throughout his Passion -- for example, when the nails went through His hands she felt the pain of nails going through her own hands --and this is in addition to all the torments she suffered throughout her life when she so often saw in visions what her Son Jesus was suffering in various ways in His daily life. Queen of martyrs -- yes, indeed she was, but what an understatement in comparison to what she actually suffered, sufferings increased beyond all measure by the love of a mother like no other.
It's so difficult, if even possible, to come to the true realization of how incredibly grateful each and every one of us should be to our Blessed Mother. How terribly unfortunate and ultimately tragic it is that she like her Son Jesus are looked upon with such indifference, if not even outright contempt, by so much of mankind.
