  • I did not downthumb your post, but the title makes it sound as if he's promoting the practice of "sophistry", where it's all about winning, even if you have to abuse logic to do it.  Not sure what the book actually says.

  • Yeah, it would qualify as that... But it does have good examples. I thought it would be useful to learn how to recognize when fallacies are used.

    From reading some of the blurb and intro, the book seems to be a semi-comedy that pretends to teach you how to win any argument, using sophistry or otherwise, but actually just teaches the reader about logic in general, and various common fallacies. It jokingly warns the reader that the book would be "dangerous in the hands of the wrong person".
