Actually this is grounded (at least partly) in truth, as the "Ottoman marranos" called Donmeh in Turkish had a great role in estabilishing the secular Ataturk's regime:

FACT. The founder of Turkey named himself Ataturk, although AtaJєω would've been more accurate:

FACT. Sabbatai Zevi tried to get Palestine from the Ottomans to restore Israel. The Ottomans flatly refused and demanded Sabbatai Zevi convert to Islam or die.
FACT. Sabbatai Zevi pretended to convert to Islam in the year 1666. Thousands of his followers followed suit, and also pretended to convert to Islam. These are now known as "Donmeh," a word that has come to also mean "transvestite," the analogy being Donmeh are Jєωs who pretend to be Muslims while transvestites are men who pretend to be women (or women who pretend to be men).
FACT. The Ottoman Empire was overthrown in the early 1900s by Jєωs. Basically, what was happening in Russia at this time was also happening in the Ottoman Empire.
