It's so obvious -- it's to corral the sheep back into stocks and keep the status quo humming along.

The video is entitled, "Fool's Gold?"

There aren't any nuances to that title, are there?

Then you have Walter Updegrave, who always gives the opposite advice a sane person would. His beliefs include "count on stocks for your retirement", "the world ISN'T going to go through any major turmoil", "gold is more volatile than the stock market, and isn't good for maintaining your principal", "invest in the stock market rather than pay down your debts", and other mainstream stupid moves that so many people make.

He does it in a very sophisticated manner though -- you know, be nice about it, appear to consider both sides, sound authoritative, etc.

It's hard to explain, but trust me when I say it's sophisticated. I'm good at judging the effectiveness of propaganda. I've studied plenty of it, as well as human nature, plus I can put myself in "blank slate" mode and analyze what a given piece does to me (and how it makes me feel) from a 3rd person perspective. Not everyone can do that.
