It's getting pretty bad out there.  A local convenience store had a sign up today, saying their kitchen was closed because they didn't have anyone to work, sign on the door, $10 per hour, no experience necessary, will train.  I told the clerk that if I weren't busy 24/7 with family obligations, heck, yeah, I'd go down there and serve up hot dogs and chili for $10 per hour.  You can't live on that, but it would make a pretty nice cushion to my modest post-retirement income.  Then we went to the local Sam's Club for hot dogs, and for two days in a row, they've been out of hot dogs.  Then we went to Waffle House, and they had a sign on the door saying that orders and service might be delayed due to under-staffing.  We got waffles and bacon (for me) and sat out in the parking lot to eat.

Hard telling where this is going to end up.  I'm still waiting to see whether my wife or I get the $250 monthly check for our son.  She doesn't need it, in fact, she and her illicit mortally sinful consort may make too much to qualify.  I could use it --- that new car payment, you know --- but I've never asked her for money in my life, and I don't intend to start now.  Put more water in the bean soup and get more staples at Dollar Tree.  We don't require much money to live, and it's a good thing.  And that new Camry just sips the gas, 34 mpg highway over the weekend.
