    There are more Americans dependent on the federal government than ever before in U.S. history. According to the Survey of Income and Program Participation conducted by the U.S. Census, well over 100 million Americans are enrolled in at least one welfare program run by the federal government. Many are enrolled in more than one. That is about a third of the entire population of the country. Sadly, that figure does not even include Social Security or Medicare. Today the federal government runs almost 80 different "means-tested welfare programs", and almost all of those programs have experienced substantial growth in recent years.

    Yes, we will always need a "safety net" for those that cannot take care of themselves, but it is absolutely ridiculous that the federal government is financially supporting one-third of all Americans. How much farther do things really need to go before we finally admit that we have become a socialist nation? At the rate we are going, it will not be too long before half the nation is on welfare. Unfortunately, we will likely never get to that point because the gigantic debt that we are currently running up will probably destroy our financial system before that ever happens.

    It is really hard to believe how rapidly some of these federal welfare programs have grown.

    For example, the number of Americans on food stamps has grown from about 17 million in 2000 to 31.9 million when Barack Obama took office to 46.4 million today.

    The federal government spent a staggering 71.8 billion dollars on the food stamp program in 2011.

    That sure is a lot of money to spend on food.

    And I thought that my grocery bills were high.

    Medicaid is also growing like crazy.

    The number of Americans on Medicaid grew from 34 million in 2000 to 54 million in 2011.

    Once upon a time, Medicaid was supposed to help the poorest of the poor get medical care. In fact, back in 1965 only about one out of every 50 Americans was on Medicaid.

    In my state, a yr or so ago, they dropped hte earnings requirement levels that social security disabilitystill uses...we now have people making $1600 a month apply, some working F/T and some getting health coverage already.

    W/social security, you have to make under a certain amount, I think its now $1000 and month or have bills that, per formula, bring it down to under that amount.....
    No one now gets turned down to apply for medicaid, though mosto f thse higher earners normally get shot down, they can still apply and cost alot to process their cases. Hence, medicaid work loads are up, funding tighter then ever and a lot of work.....

    $50/month cell phone bill is not going to replace an $750 month food stamp benefit for 5 people.

    well said, esp since the price of food has skyrockted, in part due to drought and rise in gas prices...........

  •  The subject of the supply of food, & its currently precarious state is most interesting. I suspect that the plan is to cause a famine, as Stalin did in the Ukraine. Most of the farms are already corporate kolkhozy, all they'd have to do would be call a halt to further planting in conjunction with stopping the trucks from making further deliveries.

     Most supermarkets have gone to the model (there's a name for it, I just can't remember) wherein everything is delivered just as it's needed, they haven't got months worth of food stored away, most of them haven't any more than a week's worth, if that.

    A few weeks after having done this, if that, most of the bigger cities & towns will be burning, anarchy will break out everywhere, after a few months or a year of this, the majority of the population that is still alive will be willing to accept anything whatsoever from the government, just so long as order is restored, & a return to an apparent normality is promised.

  • The term you are referencing is the JIT model.(Just in Time) You are correct that it is a socialist program where a company's inventory is basically on trailers in transit. Most retail stores will be out of inventory at the distribution level in a maximum of 3 days.

  • One further comment related to JIT. Some companies goal for on hand inventory is around 1.7 - 2 days. The concept is to replace on a one to one basis. Meaning as one is ordered one is there to replace it, but I would say that it really does work out that way. I have seen a lot of smaller companies go out of business as a result of "global shortages". They can easily shut down supply and the stores will be empty very quickly. Even Wal-Mart does not store or house a lot of product in their regional distribution centers. They typically receive more than half of their stock one day and ship it out the next day.

    $750 ! ! !   Oh my gosh!  I'm feeding 3 on less than $200 month, we're average middle class people so would never be eligible for food stamps.  I'm sure glad our tax dollars go toward making sure others can eat better than we can afford to  :cussing:

    They are quite literally taking hamburger out of my mouth (and about 4 other families) to make sure one "poor" family can have chops!  or most likely waste it on soda, chips, ice cream, frozen pizza, bags, boxes, and cans of things that aren't really food!

  • Preparation both spiritually and physically . . . If you have not done so, try the site www.thereadystore.com

         To point out the eventual takeover is good for those who are still uninformed but they need:
                  To become informed and I think most Americans have a sense of what
               is coming;
                  To begin (if not already) to store food, water, etc.;
                  To be prepared to defend themselves from marauders from the city;
                  To begin the analysis and thought process of re-location to a
                safe rural setting;
                   To commit one's mind, body heart and soul to God's  Will
                and to  consecrate oneself and families to The Sacred Heart of Jesus
                The Immaculate Heart of Mother Mary, to St. Joseph and St. Ann.

    We will not be able to stop the onslaught and many will die a martyr's death but a few will survive.
