  • Another part of this is that you can't get a job without an address so that your i.d. is up to date.

You can't move in with relatives in many cases because their leases limit who stays in the apartments.

And people who think they own their real estate are often subjected to the same kind of pressure from condo managers or neighborhood watch groups.

If you do have generous relatives who let you camp on their couch in spite of those pressures, you can't get a PO Box in order to maintain a separate life because many post office managers require that you show a utility bill or lease in addition to a state drivers' license or i.d.

Say, what's that song about "Coming to Amerrica" that Neil Diamond used to sing? Time for a rousing chorus!

  • you know, this is sad, but these days people are deluded thinking the good times will enver end and no need for savings.

then again, the inflation, fake moeny and the constant barage of "buy, buy" does not help either.Conservatives are quick to blame the people yet they love them some advertising and the "free market" that urges one to buy out of want, not out of need.

You're right in spirit, but in practice I don't think savings helps at all either.

Look at how savers have been punished in this recession. The few that bothered to save are getting ridiculous rates on their savings, and if most doomsayers are correct, an inflationary money policy (how useful will inflated cash be?). I don't personally think we're going to have Weimar hyperinflation, but I'd rather spend all my money on goods, like weapons, ammo, maybe a solar setup, some batteries, seeds, tools, toiletries, etc. and stock up.

Cash (nor gold) would be worth a pile of dung if we get into a real depression (and that jury is still out).

  • We're on food stamps.  After just under 17 years with the same company, I got laid-off and cannot find a job.  I have not "lost it all," though.  In fact, with my severance, I was able to pay my car off, all of my unsecured debt, and get caught-up on all my bills.  Now I am down to my first and second mortgages and my student loan, but sill, times are tough, especially, gas.  I love to walk, cell phone in hand, but it's -6 right now.  Even my furry-coated dog does not want to go outside.

granted, the video is os-so, but go to yourtube nad look up EATEN ALIVE robert hanten, he feels we are...also, a good talk by Tom Gabriel "The Modern Economy/Kingship of Jesus" or something like that, listended t oit this AM again-he too feels we are heading toward hyperinflation.

some savings is better than none, but true, not a long term cure.Gold/silver on several markets would still be good, but food, skills, supplies are the real money....

the sad fact is that most people are broke and struggling to varying degrees, but the Church should be helping people-tell 90%+ people that and they look and sneer like you are some alien....Papa Big Govt will just print more money and more welfare to dig us all deeper in debt....in a proper society, there is real money and value, you would be helped by the Church......prayers and thoughts for you and your family....

Thanks.  I am delighted at the prospect of working again, the major problem right now being the lack of any job offers.  I am, however, continuing to actively look for work.

In Iowa.  I was, formerly, a corporate software developer, with 20 or so years of experience.  We are unable to relocate, however, and jobs here are limited.  I have thought about driving truck, but I would need to get a license for that.  My driving record is flawless, never had a ticket of any kind (except for the $5 parking ticket) nor have I ever been in an accident.
