  • They must know that this whole big top is coming down soon -- and it won't be pretty in a welfare state like Illinois. There are a lot of people depending on the government for bread and board.

The fact that Illinois is a very "blue" state is one of the reasons I'm glad I left.

Places like Chicago and Rockford will be violent, chaotic hell-holes if the crap ever hits the fan. (I'm from Rockford, BTW)

Number one, people there don't have the same hard-working, self-reliant mentality that you find in the South. Number two, the cities are highly mixed racially, and that always becomes a problem in times of crisis.

  • I live smack in between two marine bases camp lejune and cherry point. When the shit hits the fan, the marines will turn this area into a safe zone. As long as we don't get nuked, I feel safe.

  • I've met both my neighbors -- they're both down-to-earth and hard working. They both have good "post-powerdown" skills. One of them put up a barn in a weekend, the other one is digging a large man-made pond in his backyard. He plans to stock it with fish.

So I'll have a water supply AND meat -- right by my property! I'm certainly happy about that prospect. I'm not worried about getting access to it. Even if he wanted something in return, I could offer some vegetables or spices to go with all that fish... He doesn't have chickens, either, but I should have them in a month or two.

recall, though, they have received training most likely for "urban unrest", so instead of a safe zone, you may indeed be in a controleld fascist zone...Alex Jones made a movie about that yrs ago, one of his first, that showed troops patrolling NC streets not far from your area.....guess one thing about playing Universal Policeman is that most troops are out of the country.....some, hopefuly most, would not carry out order and may even rebel against it...

And even if nothing happens at all. If people thought about ways to live "locally" and not depend on the government or someone else for everything, I'm sure we'd all be better off whatever the economy does.
I renounce any and all of my former views against what the Church through Pope Leo XIII said, "This, then, is the teaching of the Catholic Church ...no one of the several forms of government is in itself condemned, inasmuch as none of them contains anythi

  • I have my chickens, rabbits, a garden, a pond, water filters and a bomb shelter in my basement.  (I didn't put it there it came with the house).  We also have food put away and guns and ammo.  I am thinking about more guns and ammo while we still can buy them.
