Housing is completely unaffordable.

If you want a house (and you should), short of being flush with cash the only solution is to know how to do stuff. Buy something (far) past its glory days. You'll still overpay but it's a more reachable goal. It'll come with other compromises most likely. But it's a better alternative to newer builds which, aside from being unreachable expensive for a single income household, not infrequently are in need of just as (if not more) repairs than the older builds.

There's a whole genre on YT of building inspectors going thru new builds-- most of these homes cost more than 400k, often much more. These corporate builds are shockingly bad. We're not talking just about cosmetic stuff. Rapid settling. Poorly fastened trusses. Water problems (and everything that follows them) galore. These homes are often structurally unsound on top of rapidly deteriorating finishes. It's a racket on top of a racket.

Be sure to have the home professionally inspected!  I know someone who purchased a beautiful log cabin home, in need of work, but just right in size, set up, on three wooded acres with a separate two car garage in back. They’d hoped to move in before fall, but that won’t happen before they get rid of the termites and repair the damage!

Unfortunately men can't really afford to be normal anymore. If you're average you need to step up and become great, because the economic conditions are going to degrade you to below average very quickly. Either that means being great at making money so you can afford the ridiculous prices, or it means being great at doing stuff so you can make up for not having money. 

And you have to start yesterday.

Neither will be enough for what's coming.  It's going to come down to choosing whether you want to go along with the Anti-Christ system and starving to death.
