I know they have the 'ocean effect' big time, and that's why everyone wants to live there. You don't need much in the way of heating/cooling.

Texas also has a milder winter, but it probably gets colder (at night, during the winter) here, and it certainly gets hotter during the summer.

I live in Los Angeles. I've slept in a car (not a truck) on many occassions. Even though it gets 50 -55 degrees at night, because the car is made of metal it gets freezing inside the car. In the spring and summer time, in the morning, it gets very hot inside when the sun has been up for a couple of hours (once again, because the car is made of metal, it gets really hot inside very quickly. It is no picknick. Of course, he is sleeping in a truck so he has room to stretch out his legs. If you are sleeping in a car, you must sleep on one side in a fetal position. It is very uncomfortable. I give this man props for having survived this long sleeping in a truck.

I was thinking the same thing --

What if someone can't afford a house or apartment? Do they have to sleep on the street?

I would think as long as trespassing laws weren't being broken... (parking outside someone's house, in a commercial parking lot after hours, on private property, etc.)
