I think its quite hard to forecast how a country like India will be affected in globally bad economic times. There is a huge black economy - unlicensed and untaxed. Besides,  I believe that the major part of goods and services produced are for the domestic market. A crippling drought and famine is what would hurt. Even, for example, the international price of iron ore drops significantly, there will be producers who fiddle the leasing agreements, avoid the paying the bulk of taxes, and then export at a profit. Two years ago such a person sent his bulldozers into a church compound in the state of Karnataka, shovelled off as much as the iron ore bearing mud as he could, and nobody could do a thing about it.

Hardly worth mentioning.  Silver prices have always been volatile.
