This will really accelerate as people become increasingly frugal: doing without, making do with used items, borrowing from family and friends instead of buying their own, or repairing an old item.
I try to do all of the above as often as possible.
The less I buy (and support the economy) the better! That makes me a heretic to the religion of Consumerism, but a good Catholic.
Remember, the best people on earth (priests, monks, nuns, brothers) don't have much money and aren't good consumers. So the spirit of Poverty is obviously not a bad thing.
