First off, the economy is not going to improve, and any propaganda
to contrary is just propaganda. The economy is like a drug addict, and need more doses of stimulus of borrowed money from future generations yet to be born. We have to sell our treasury bonds to foreign countries such as China,and Japan, whom are turning around and using their cheep dollars in buying up our infrastructure. We are a debtor nation, with obligations over 50 trillion dollars. In 1965 we were a creditor nation.  The official unemployment rate is around 17% and more according to shadowstats.com of John Williams.
If you found a job that pays $13.00 a hour, that would be a
high paying job now. The jobs that I have applied for, pay
at minimum wage, and a little higher.
The situation out there is only get worse, even though this
will not be reported in the mass media. They are not
reporting the tent cities that are springing up, that are
full of people whom lost their jobs, and  their homes in
foreclosures.
