That's all by design, as they try to destroy the Middle Class and the family.
So the Plutocracy benefit from the national debt, enrich themselves all the more off of it ... own companies that get huge government contracts, get super rich, etc., but the national debt causes the inflation. Now, while the wealthy are also subject to inflation, it barely affects them, since a 20% increase in the price of food or gas etc. can't come close to offsetting the gains they made via their corruption, vs. these same percentage of increase can wipe out the Middle Class (whereas the poor are already a welfare class to begin with, so their status doesn't change much). And of course most larger families came from the Middle Class, so the true target are families. Wives / Mothers need to get second jobs due to the inflation, just so the family can get by, leaving the children to daycare (if they can afford it) or, causing them to have fewer children (if any) ... leading to the rise of DINC "family" units.
