  • Ok, given that this forum is not moderated, there is nothing else for me to do here. Let the trolls have it their way.

After all, everyone that falls for such idiocy deserves it.

I better get on with some more useful things.

I know quite well that it won't make any difference to you and your pals, but hopefully some people with enough honesty and common sense left will be helped by it.

    .
Give a flat-earther what they're asking for and they don't say "thank you."
    .
Perhaps they weren't really expecting a reply. Now they don't know what to do with it.
    .
    Been there done that.
    .
It's the same video I reviewed for them months ago and they ignored me, too.
    .
    Par for the course.

  • With that I agree: concentrate on what you see and can test for yourself, and don't bother with what someone is supposed to have said, somewhere, some time, without us being able to verify all the links between them and us.

Still, even that does not seem to be enough for most (if not all) flat earth "believers". I'm at a loss what else they could possible want. It has become like a cult, where there's only one dogma: "the earth is flat".
    .
Correct. Flat-earthers repeatedly refuse to participate in personal observation exercises. Their only answer is to search for what someone else has replied to any such facts of reality. For them, what others say is their only reality.
    .
Flat-earthers do not take well to thinking for themselves. They rely on someone else to do their thinking for them.
    .
Their golden-calf false-god is flat-earthism, which they worship.

I never paid too much attention to this flat earth nonsense on CI until a few days ago, but it is very nice to see some other Catholic able to observe and think straight.

And you are spot on a little further where you state that flat earthers have an "inability to learn". I dissected and debunked that video to kiwiboy almost a year ago, you did a few months ago, and I did again yesterday. That's three times. You'd think they would at least stop promoting this silly video. But I would almost bet my life's saving on it: the vast majority of flat earthers will not learn from it. They will simply carry on in their dreamworld.

Yea, I rely on the Church, the Fathers and Scripture, something you cannot do with your model.

Oh, but I did.  At the very least, by default.  Samuel couldn't take the heat and wisely got out of the kitchen.

Agreed, and that is the only way you flat earthers can win this "game": wait until everyone else has left the asylum, then you'll be left as the "winner".

    .
The time may well be coming when it's fairly common for private parties to take a flight into outer space.
    .
When that day arrives, there will still be flat-earthers who refuse to look at reality.
    .
They will have all manner of excuses, such as:
    -- They're using a fish-eye lens
    -- It must be CGI
-- Could be a hologram outside the window
-- Might be a fake projection to look like what is there
-- It's a conspiracy to hide the "flat" earth
-- This can't be real because the firmament is in the way
    .
Even if you were to take a flat-earther in person into outer space, they would not believe what they see with their own eyes.
-- The moon is too far away so it must be fake
-- The sun is too far away so this must be CGI
-- Could be a hologram outside the window
-- I can't see any "flat" earth so it can't be real
    .
