  • If I disprove the arguments made in your favourite video, will you agree to never again argue in favour of flat earth, either in public or in private?
I can't possibly agree to that particular term because it would be to deny something that I think is part of my faith and also contrary to common sense.
What do you think of agreeing to put a link to thread where the arguments are disproven into your signature, so it will appear every time you post?

  • I refer to this term. But do your best. You won't get very far.

To be honest, I have already refuted your 'favourite video' elsewhere. But what's the point of doing this if flat earthers will simply ignore it and come up with yet another 'absolute proof'?

The definition of an idiot is "someone who does the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result each time". So, I'm trying my best not to become an idiot!

  • I have found in the past that every time I refute one of their arguments, flat earthers simply ignore that particular video/argument and simply move on to the next one.

It takes time to present the arguments/refutations, and if there is no hope of achieving anything, then we may as well "bugger off" like one chicken just suggested. And that's fine with me, as long as everyone else "buggers off" too.

Btw, a flat or round earth is absolutely not part of my Faith, on the contrary, it is a distraction, and one that the devil is all too happy to use in order to divide Traditional Catholics.

Well your experience with flat earthers is limited then. Sometimes certain scientific experiments can lead to conclusive results, other times to inconclusive results. It's the nature of science.

In the case of disproving the globe, some experiments may lead to an ambiguous result, by which I mean, there is some aspect of the experiment which is not clearly accounted for, or some explanation that can be used which could work, even if rare. But the videos I refer to do not seem to have any of them.

The first person to come up with the globe was pythagoras who was, it is well known, an occultist. Prior to that and for a very long time after, everyone knew what the earth was. The error of the globe crept in slowly to the Church and had consumed almost everything by the 20th century. It is still an error.
Eclipses neither prove nor disprove the flat earth.

ok. please provide the link then.
I think that if I type in "Samuels debunking" in google, it won't get it.

    or just repost it here.

It's no longer online, but I am happy to put it back up.. IF there is any hope and/or guarantee of it making a difference. It sounds though like you are not sure enough of yourself to go down that road.

Speaking of signatures, I just noticed yours.  I myself worked for NASA for about 4 years, but it was just developing software (no, not CGI stuff), and I'm open-minded still on flat earth.

It's difficult as you are well aware, to judge someone's true tone by writing. You are wrong in assumption reluctance.

To be frank, if I worry about anything it is not having to the time to post and do enough for the flat earth. If ever a reluctance is sensed it is that. Clearly other posters on this forum have more time than me. I'm not judging them.

I'm glad you mentioned it, since your 'favourite video' is one of those swiss cheese arguments. Luckily there's still enough cheese left in it to prove beyond a shadow of doubt that the earth is not flat.

The first person that a Traditional Catholic suggested to me as a prophet and guru on the flat earth theory is Eric Dubay, a yoga teacher who claims that "Christ was only a myth".

Has this already been mentioned on the forum? Clearly, you are therefore Satan incarnate.

ok well after you post it up, there should only be about 30 pages of this thread to wade through tomorrow so I can post my response at the end. But I'll do my best.

I'm heading off now. Chat later.

    That's a fib.

How much time and effort would it take for you to say "I agree to your terms", then sit back and relax while I dissect your "favourite video" and prove the earth is not flat? It would take you 5 seconds, while my presentation has taken me a lot longer than that.

    please just post it up.

I'm not agreeing to any silly terms though. I'll discuss with you like a civilized human being.
