Stealing the Antichrist's thunder by revealing FE now

  • Why am I so passionate about the flat earth?

Because it's true, it's liberating, it explains everything (finally), and it totally matches up with reality. Something as foundational as THE BASIC NATURE OF THE WORLD WE LIVE IN has to "matter", don't you think?

But as a person who discovered this only recently (a few years ago?) I know how I felt and feel about it.

Imagine a powerful charismatic man like the Antichrist -- more intelligent, better with arguments/debate, and with a sharper mind that most current "flat earth" proponents today. Imagine how convincing he will be, how he will put it all together.
He might even (after taking power) arrange various voyages to Antarctica to prove it. Maybe even reveal continent(s) outside the ice wall. Maybe do a partial re-enactment of Operation Dominic, when they sent rockets STRAIGHT UP to explode against the firmament (they wanted to "get out" -- they failed) -- this time with large crowds watching.

Now imagine how people will react. They will feel that EVERYONE, EVERY ORGANIZATION has betrayed them. They will adhere to said Antichrist out of gratitude and devotion. He will appear to be a heroic bringer of truth, smasher of error/delusion, and wonderful promise for the future.

Do we want to leave this "reveal" to the Man of Sin? God forbid!

No, Traditional Catholics can possess this truth TODAY, and then they won't be floored when the Antichrist reveals it later.

TRUTH MATTERS. It always matters. This is just another way in which it matters.

Why do I want to steal the Antichrist's thunder? It should be obvious -- to reduce, as much as possible, the number of converts he will make. I want to have that many more souls that will NOT adhere to him, and hence be saved for all eternity. I'd say that's a noble cause.

The more insanity/errors you have in your head, the more things the Antichrist can "heal" you from, like when Our Lord healed people of various diseases. Taking away the blindness/error from their minds would be just as compassionate and just as important.
A man who wakes you up, who gives you the truth, is a GOOD GUY, at least in that aspect. You are inclined to believe he is a good guy IN GENERAL, because truth comes from God.

  • What I hear you saying is that your primary motivation for being passionate about FE is primarily spiritual.

    1) We are made for truth - you think FE is true - so this "truth" you have discovered brings you great peace of mind and comfort.

    2) If the Antichrist hasn't come yet (and assuming we know what kind of power player he will be) you want to preemptively strike so as to make him appear less amazing somehow, because there could be souls who will remember hearing about FE being true and when the Antichrist proves it then people will be like,..."So what...mehhh, we already knew about flat earth, we ain't buying your sham!" and thence save their souls.

    Both are primarily spiritual reasons.

It is just that all your reasons for being passionate about it...

...are the same reasons that Sedes think R&R should reject the Vatican II Popes as legitimate.

    1) Knowing that Christ would never hand His Bride over to be repeatedly spiritually violated by His Own Vicar on earth is a Catholic truth that brings great peace of mind and comfort.

    2) If the Antichrist hasn't come yet (and assuming we know what kind of power player he will be) Sedes want to alert souls to the fact that the papal claimants since Vatican II are preparing the way for the Antichrist, or perhaps one of them actually was THE Antichrist. This way, when/if the Son of Iniquity has yet to appear and he is using the false Popes as his puppets, there will be none-in-the-know who will accidentally fall into his traps. They were already certain that the Vatican II claimants are not who they purport to be. Holding them to be true Popes could prove to be a dangerous error that may be used against those who retain it as the mystery continues to deepen. This is in effect, "stealing the Antichrist's thunder", by exposing the lies of false church and its vicar of satan/antichrist.

So, really, it seems to me that the reasons for researching FE and SVism are not so different after all!

  • It also matters because an FE would totally destroy modern Big Bang cosmology, which requires rotating and coagulating spheres to even be remotely credible even to those who don't know that it violated the basic laws of thermodynamics.  There would be very few atheists left in the world.  Some of the leading FEs went from atheist / agnostic to at least have some natural belief in, aka knowledge of, God.

Ultimately, it is my theory that AntiChrist will present as an alien, will shape-shift, and declare that Jesus, Moses, Abraham, and Mohammed were all aliens, come to intervene in human history to improve their condition.  He will simulate the miracles of Our Lord, but then will be struck down attempting to simulate Our Lord's Ascension.  That:s about the only scenario I can see which would fool nearly the entire world and shatter faith.

  • Yes, the importance of FE is in fact spiritual, but we would not accept it were we not also convinced by the science.

But, yes, I'm with you regarding the importance of coming up with some explanation of the Crisis that doesn't wreck Catholic ecclesiology and make you wonder if the Prots and Old Catholics didn't have valid points.  Now, that does NOT strictly have to be SV, but whatever people come up with cannot gut the Church's indefectibility.  Father Chazal's sedeimpoundist position I find perfectly acceptable.

  • It would seem to appear that a large number of Catholics are being demonically deceived either directly, indirectly or both about the Earth being flat or a large number of Catholics are being demonically deceived either directly, indirectly, or both about the Earth being a globe.  It obviously can't be both.  Does the Church, Herself teach us one way or the other and if not why not since it appears to be of some significant (spiritual?) importance?

Interesting enough no doubt, there are Catholics on both sides of the question who every day recite an act of faith which includes words which in essence say, "I believe these truths and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches because Thou can'st neither deceive nor be deceived."

  • So, really, it seems to me that the reasons for researching FE and SVism are not so different after all!

    Shut up and listen.

I don't have anything against sedevacantists individually, or the "position" in the abstract. Or researching to any degree, out of curiosity, desire for knowledge, etc. so you can form a well-founded and prudent OPINION on the matter. What I have a problem with is sedevacantism as an identity: "sedevacantist chapels" and so forth. As if "Traditional Catholic", "independent" weren't good enough.

And you don't seem to understand the problem with being "dogmatic". So listen up: The problem with dogmatic sedevacantists is that they not only believe sedevacantism to be true, they think it's a dogma of the Faith to the point that they condemn other Catholics who reject sedevacantism. They call them non-Catholic, heretic, etc. They think worshiping with non-Sedes is problematic/sinful. THAT is a problem.

It has nothing to do with "honestly believing in a position". That isn't being dogmatic.

When you have been neck deep in Tradition as long as I have, you start to gain a real big picture and dare I say, some wisdom on the matter.

This Crisis has gone on so long, it is plain to me that mankind will not be able to solve it by himself. Furthermore, Sedes and non-Sedes can point to saintly priests/bishops who they follow in the honest hopes of prudently parking their soul for the duration of the Crisis, with the hopes of coming out Catholic on the other side (when the Crisis is over). The confusion has crossed the Rubicon.

The reason I wouldn't be caught dead in a "sedevacantist chapel" is due to danger of SCHISMATIC MENTALITY which I believe is a real danger in many of the chapels. It has nothing to do with their position on the Pope question, which is a mere private matter of opinion, as no one can rule or declare anything definitive on this question with anything approaching dogmatic certainty. God is going to have to intervene to sort that out.

Sedevacantism is an opinion. Opinions are like a-- rmpits. Everyone has one, and it stinks.

  • The Novus Ordo is destroying far more souls than any debate about the shape of the earth could ever touch.

  • The Novus Ordo is destroying far more souls than any debate about the shape of the earth could ever touch.

You will find that there are common ancestors, threads common to both.

The Conciliar Church is all about adopting the ways of the (modern) world, being acceptable to the world, basically capitulating to human respect and modern sensibilities/customs/habits.

The Conciliar Revolution made the *Catholic Church* into a "child of its age", as well as all the members who adhere to it.

The Conciliar Church currently defends Climate Crisis/Change, Evolution, and other fundamental errors. All in the name of fitting in with the modern world. It's disgusting.

  • listen.
I am intently reading your diatribe Matthew, but it just seems to me that to acknowledge as your head a schismatic would actually be the "schismatic mentality".

The major difference I see between FE and SVism is that with FE you have nothing to lose (you think you are safe).

    vs.

With SVism your own soul is on the line.

But, that is no less true if you are R&R, because acknowledging as your head those who teach perverse doctrines is not SAFE.

I understand it as, being caught between a hard place and a rock.

One has to find some way to parse the madness. For you it is FE I suppose.

Look at the hallmarks of being  FE

    1) Most people think you are nuts!
    2) You seem to have a penchant for conspiracy theories centered around FE
    3) You are distrustful of authority figures.
    4) You think there is a big satanic plot to control the world through lies about the nature of the earth.
    5) You belong to a "fringe" group that "finally has the answers we have been looking for (paraphrasing you)".

    Now, compare that to SVism

    1) Most "Catholics" think you are nuts!
    2) You seem to have a penchant for conspiracy theories centered around the overthrow of the Church
    3) You are distrustful of purported "church" authority figures
    4) You think there is a big satanic plot to form a false church in place of the true Church
    5) You belong to a "fringe" group that finally has the answers to how this can be.

The similarities for holding either SVism or FE are quite uncanny.

  • The Antichrist will, most assuredly, not profess that there is absolutely no salvation outside of the Catholic Church

Pray that we believe the Dogma in its entirety, so that we will not be deceived when so many are

    Quote
While the CEO vowed there wouldn't be any paperwork if someone could produce proof the Earth is flat, a man claiming to be Boyle's lawyer quickly appeared in the ad to reveal the fine print in Columbia's offer.

It turns out Columbia has actually created 'The Company, LLC,' which the clothing giant noted still had assets valued at $100,000, meaning one lucky flat Earther could still collect a nice payday if they succeed.

    Disappointing...
I mean, if you really believe in a spherical Earth why not just offer the actual company as the prize?
