Taken from City of God book 16.
Is that infallible Sacred Scripture inspired by the Holy Ghost?

Dumb question here, were people in the time of St Augustine aware that just because it is a given time (let's say noon, though any time would do) in one particular place, that it is not the same time everywhere else?

I have to think that travel was not quick enough, or even prevalent enough, for anyone to notice something such as that.  There obviously was no such thing as time zones, nor was there such a thing as telecommunication.

This is confusing.
72 nations and languages. There are more than 72 languages now.
People do live on most land masses.
The oceans were sailed long before Columbus.
Certainly every person in the world is descended from Adam and Eve. And actually now from Noah and his wife.

These things were mentioned in the previous chapters in this book.
