  • While looking at David Hogg's YT channel after reading about the shooting, I found this:

    A docuмentary about the students at Parkland launching a high altitude weather balloon.

    Predictably, you will see the rate of curvature bend back & forth in unison with the camera 
    swinging.

    When the camera is still the horizon is totally flat, of course. 

    Go to 15:00 mark to skip the preamble.

    The problem with balloons is, they're moving all the time. They never stop moving, because of air currents.
    .
    The camera is never still.
    .
    Consequently, no reliable sighting can be taken for a level line of sight from an airborne balloon.
    .
    The camera is NEVER able to show where a level line of sight projects into the distance.
    .
    No balloon, civilian or otherwise, at 100K feet, can show where the horizontal vanishing point should be.
