Neil: My moon experiment

  • Neil asked about a moon experiment I did.

Neil believes if you photgraphed the moon on the same day from the southern hemisphere that it would appear inverted from what is seen in the northern hemisphere, because the earth is a globe.

Well, it's not true. Sorry, Neil.

I first did the experiment in the first 2 weeks of December 2016.
The photos were taken in the US and in Australia.

What the photos showed is that the moon is precisely mirror-imaged left to right:  exactly as one would expect to see if the earth is a flat disc plane.

And this was taken same day in Australia at their zenith:

  • This photo (not mine) shows the same mirror image effect, but this one was taken at the same time from each hemisphere, rather than each respective zenith.

  • Another interesting fact we learned from our experiment: the moon  (and sun) "roll" across the sky like a wagon wheel.

    Just as the ancients described.

We took photographs at rise zenith and set.

The sun, moon, and planets all turn, like a cartwheel, almost 180 degrees across the sky each night.

  • This cartwheel effect from east to west across the sky each night is due to the law of perspective.

  • The sun's cartwheel can be observed when sunspots are present.

  • This is a good 3-D demonstration of how the globe earth is false using the moon and US & Australia example:

You can't be serious! You're supposed to take GOOD pictures, not trash pictures.
These are overexposed, blurry rejects. Nothing can be seen of interest in them, so you'd better try again.
    .
    This time, make it legible.

    .
The moon (or sun) do not roll like a wheel over their course across the sky.
    .
It's your head that's doing the rolling, when you turn from left to right.
    .
If you lean your head back to a line perpendicular to the ecliptic you'll see there is no rolling of the moon or sun.
    .
The same thing happens when you watch a jet fly across the sky, unless you compensate by tilting your line of sight.

    .
Why don't you provide at least a link to the experiment page so new readers can know what you're talking about?
    .
Or do you prefer to look like you're trying to hide something?
    .
Why don't you just post your photos?
Oh -- then everyone would see how laughably bad they are?

    I did post my photos.
You complained at how bad they are.
What experiment psge are you talking about? There isn't one. I don't have a website.
My friend in AUS has a better camera than I do.
In fact, he and I talked yesterdayabout repeating it because of you.

    .
No, you posted links to another site where you claim your photos are.
If they were really your photos you could have posted them here but you did not post them here.
    .
You can post links to anyone's photos. Maybe these you're linking to are not yours at all.
    .
Your OP here presumes the reader has already seen the post I made to which you were replying but you don't provide a link.
    .
The "Experiment" suggests using photos of a full moon, for example.
    .
All the photos you referred to are terrible, even the ones that are not yours.
    .
They have to show details on the moon or else they're useless for this purpose.
    .
Example of a good image of a full moon:

    Your image:

BTW where does this "14,856 km" come from? Dreamland?

  • Are you new to the internet?

Imgur is an image hosting site that I uploaded my photos to in order to share here. I identified the only photo that was not mine.

I don't own a P 900 camera,  so you won't get   that level of quality from me.

    .
Okay, so then upload them here -- or is that impossible?
Are you new to the Internet and can't figure out how to upload your "own photos" to this website?
    .
You'd better get a better camera then if you want to pretend to provide usable images.
    .
And where does that "14,856 km" come from?
