Mechanical Levers and O-Rings in Space
« on: April 25, 2026, 12:50:51 PM »
I have no engineering background but this video from someone who does shows he's incredulous when interviewing one of NASA's finest - Don Pettit - on how the levers of the cupola work. Apparently the o-rings could easily withstand the psi of space but what about naturally degrading. Is sustained travel really possible with simple o-rings as the great defense? This short 8min vid works best on 1.5x speed (to get through it) and bypass the 1:00-1:40 mark which is not important.
